You can record VOD programs? I can't. There is no option to record those, just play.

Well, I've been doing it...and by doing a Search for the movie. I think the key is it has to be not today...if you look now for Driving Miss Daisy, you'll see a choice for today that is PLAY only (but you can pause it and come back whenever), and 2 other choices in the next week--those offer the Record option. 
Edit--And I am talking about the free VoD that comes with U400, so it might be different on VoD that you pay to rent?

Of course those (Driving Miss Daisy) have the option to record. Those are being shown on the HBOSIG channel (807)
As far as I know, the free VOD programs cannot be recorded.

Thanks very much for for the replys, this is pretty much what i thought, but i figured i would throw it out there and see if somebody else had a better answer, i will tell my daughter, she said it would not be a deal breaker she was just curious if it could be done, as they currently can record vod on there direct tv dvr but cannot watch it on any other tv other then the direct dvr tv.

You can't record any of the free on demand progamming either. I have tried to do it several times. I wanted to record Jericho and it didn't work. Oh well.

I know we used to be able to record for-pay VoD with Cable, but that was before all this DRM garbage came along.

Okay spd, now you have me confused. VoD is Video on Demand, but you called it VoD Live TV???
I thought there is VOD and then there is Live TV. VOD cannot be recorded. Live TV can. What's the diff? Only God and HBO and maybe Uverse know for sure!

VOD is not recordable at all.
What I have highlighted in your post, is just the Live TV HBO channels. By you calling them VoD, that's where the confusion comes in.
I have used the search, using the John Adams miniseries and looked everywhere it was listed in VOD, and looked again at it in the actual VOD section (CH#1 or the button on the remote) and nowhere was it recordable at all.
Now, the miniseries John Adams, that can be seen on Ch 802 & 803 etc, that isn't VoD, that is Live TV, but you are calling it VoD, which I think is where the confusion comes in. Either way, those channels are recordable, because it is live TV.
When someone says VOD, I look in one section of the Menu. When someone says Live TV, that's a different area to look at.

I learned a lot on uversusers as this site wasn't around at the time.
Mostly is from my own experience and experimentation with all the problems I've had. The aliens have made things very difficult!

How did you get your signature bolded? I changed mine but either I didn't take the time to really see how to do it or the option isn't there.

Here ya go RC. Just eliminate all the spaces, save for the ones in the actual sig. The < br > will also prvide a line, so we can tell you sigs apart from the posts. (like mine)
