My original remote was dropped and broken. I went to the AT&T store to purchase a new one and they don't carry it. So I bought an Easy Find model. Charged overnight and it doesn't work. Spent an hour on the phone with two different agents to no avail. Suggested I return new remote and exchange.
Why can't I go to a local store and get a new remote? This part of the customer service is terrible. All other cable companies had a location nearby to deal with equipment malfunctions.
I am very dissatisfied with the dificulty in replacing my remote. Perhaps it is time to stop doing business with Uverse.

Is that also true for DirecTV and Dish Network?
By the way, AT&T U-verse is really not a cable company.

Try replacing it with a Logitech Harmony(could save money and problems). If you really want to have a standard U-verse remote, I'm sure a second one from my last DVR. All you need to do is to reprogram it work on you DVR and TV.

The next time just call CS/TS and they will send you a new replacement remote for free. Many of us have had a couple sent together at no charge. Also you can look for a U-verse truck and the tech will probably just give you one. The last time I had a tech visit he gave me a couple, said he carries a whole box of them on his truck, and "hands them out like candy".
Believe I'd just return the one you have for a credit and then go after a free standard remote, or vs versus.
PS. don't go to an AT&T store for anything having to do with U-verse as you already found out. Good luck.
