Maybe it's just me, but I think the design of the RC leaves a lot to be desired. When held normally, the buttons that control the MOST often used functions, Guide, Volume, Page, and Last, are guess where - under the palm of your effing hand. So you have to wiggle the remote up in your hand until you can access these buttons. Meanwhile, Record, Recorded TV, and On Demand, buttons that you (I at least) might use 1-2 times a session, are easily reachable with your index finger. Also, where's the slo-mo button. Finally, why isn't there a button to control the video output so I can play a DVD on my TV without having to get up and manually mess with the TV controls? Hello AT&T, 21st century calling! Somebody send AT&T a Dish Network remote so they can see how one should be designed. If you're a lefty, never mind. Just use your thumb.

To answer two of your questions, there is no slo-mo button because the dvr doesn't do slo-mo yet. Hopefully this will be rectified some day. I setup my Uverse remote control to control my tv. I can switch between the tvs inputs using the tv/video button at the upper right hand of the remote. You have to press the TV button at the top fo the remote so that you are controling tv functions.

I think it's what you get used to.
I always had problems using Dish's remote (at friend's house), seemed backwards to me; now they have a Harmony, and I don't care for it either.
One thing UVs remote is lacking, one-button toggle to turn closed captioning on/off.

I have been using Logitech remotes for about five years and I have not had any problems. One button and it turns on all of the equipment that I programmed for that particular function. Logitech has a remotes from $49 to $500. Mine costs $69 and was well worth it.

Like I said, it's what you get used to. And once you use a remote a lot, you learn it...eventually. ![]()

How are you holding the remote "normally"? When I hold my remote, the backside of the remote is under the palm of my hand. All of the buttons on the front the remote are visible and controlled by using my thumb. I'm right handed.

You can only tell him he's "holding it wrong" if it's an iRemote and your name is Steve.
