Long, long time TV user. I have never seen a remote that is as poor as the ones supplied by Uverse. If somethings are not corrected I will be moving my account back to Directv. Simply starting up, after one presses the remote it goes through a long start up period and then you have to press OK, then it wants to take you to your recordings. Hey, whats wrong with immediately starting. The biggest problem is the remote itself. I have both types and even the line of sight one is poor. The buttons do not activate over 50 percent of the time. I push and push before something finally happens. Am I the only one with this problem?

The long startup could be your TV. MAny TVs seem to take forever.
THe OK is because the STB did not see the initial on. Try for careful aiming. watch the remote mode buttons to see the att button light when sending the on.
The STB comes on where you were before you turn it off. If you are in the recording area when you turn it off, that is where you restart. Set a channel before you turn it off.
You may have the same power miss when turning it off. If it remains on & you power up, the stb goes off & you see the OK

Thanks I'll try to set the STB to just before it doesn't work at all. The button issue remains terrible. Further, I cannot understand why the default of the remote is to all channels rather than to favorite. Each time I set my favorite channels the next time I use the remote in search it reverts to every channel you have. Very frustrating. Uverse really needs to look at Directv and see haw well their remotes work. Find a new supplier for them.

For the remote - try a strip of black electrical tape to the right (towards the round button) of the green light. My RF remote even works better with the tape.
Also, I am remembering that DVRs seem to be worse than other STBs. Put the DVR on the least used TV.
I agree that favorites should be a mode where the guide & up/down channel show only favorites, but microsoft did not go for the best for the customer.
You will have to get used to using the enter button (bottom right). Push enter - down arrow - OK to get favorites guide.
They even got that wrong - they think you add/remove channels more than view the guide.
Should get the guide on two enters.
