Greetings.
I have U-verse Internet service (no phone line) at 3 mbps. Over the last few days, my Motorola NGV510 gateway has been randomly dropping the Internet connection. It stays down for a few seconds to a minute, and then comes back up. Most of the times, after the gateway re-establishes the connection, it displays the NAD-2902 error message whenever I try to load up a web page, so I have to reboot the gateway and clear my browser's chache to get rid of that error message and be able to browse the Internet again.
How can I fix this? I've been thinking of replacing the NGV510 with something else, seeing that I'm not the only one who is having issues with this particulat model. Is this even possible? If so, what modems/gateways could I get? I already have an ancient -but fully functional- 2Wire 1701HG gateway. Would that work with my service? Thank you all in advance.

I just got U-Verse last month with this piece of crap router and it times out with almost every page load (I had to refresh my browser four times just to GET to this area of AT&T's website!).
I want a freaking firmware update to make it STOP!!!!! This is freaking ridiculous. I had to jump through hoops just to get it installed in the first place, spent over an hour on hold while they tried to figure out a simple order, only to be called back later to say that they don't have the speed I want (so I'm stuck with 6 mbps for my photography studio - NOT helpful)...and now it times out every 30 seconds?
Absolutely unacceptable. I don't have time to figure out how to hack this thing to make it do what I want - I expect the things I pay for to work.
In short - don't hold your breath. AT&T doesn't seem to want their consumers to actually connect to the internet.

When getting a NAD error 2902, try checking the do no show this warning again box.

That's what I do every time I get that error. Then either nothing happens or I get a message that says "problem solved, you may now browse the Internet." This doesn't stop the gateway from dropping the connection, though.

Can you try this? If you're using windows based computer, please click the start button, then in the search box type cmd then press enter. (for windows xp, you will need to type cmd after you click run) In the command prompt, please type ping google.com -t (that's ping space google.com space minus t). then show the screenshot of the result. it's either a router firmware issue or an outside line issue. Also, there's one work around, after clicking the do not show button, when your using internet explorer, click tools->internet options->settings under delete browsing history and choose every time i start internet explorer then click ok.

Did you try the steps that I suggested? As a temporary work-around please set the Internet Explorer’s caching settings for systems behind this circuit to not check “Automatically” for new pages, but to check on every start up of Internet Explorer? NAD error 2902 occurs with dry-line IP DSL which doesn’t require filters. AT&T is aware of the issue and unfortunately there is no fix at present, but they expect to roll out a firmware update in the very near future to rectify this. I have never tried but I just wonder if it would work miraculously well with the usage of a filter even without any phone service.

Yes, I tried both of your suggestions. I pinged Google and posted a screenshot of my results. I've also set IE's cache settings to look for updates only when I start it. Hopefully the workaround works.
Also, is there a way to modify Firefox's chache settings like I just did with IE?

I too have this same issue. Happens every hour. Sometimes it goes fine for days though, so not sure what the root cause is? I tried different jacks in my home and each seems a little different. I also have dry loop connnection.

Service person advises software problem with Motorola NGV510 modem. Said they are getting many service calls for same problem and they will not have a fix until June 2013.
I was happy with my DSL that I had for years with ATT. They literally forced me to change to Uverse by actually turning off my DSL until I called to complain. They turned it back on long enough for me to get their new Uverse modem. I have one thing to say, F**K ATT !!!
I will be looking for a new company to spend my $350 per month for phone and internet service.

I've been having a similar issue. After initial installation the service was working flawlessly for several weeks, then suddenly started giving this error.
I don't have any phones in the house, but tried attaching the filter anyway. Also tried moving the connection to other jacks in the house. In the evening it is very intermittent, mostly not working. Sometime in the middle of the night/early morning it starts working and continues until mid- to late-evening.
What is interesting is when the error comes up, everything I tried to browse to gives this same error EXCEPT for gmail. Gmail continues to work and I get new e-mails as they come in. But while gmail is working in one browser/tab, anything else will continue to give the error in another browser/tab.
So clearly there is a connection if gmail will work, but why it will continue to work and nothing else .. I have no idea!!

I am having the same issue with intermitten connectivity. A service tech has already been out to install a new NID outside and new wiring and phone jack have been installed in the house. When it runs, the service is great. I only qualified for the 768mbps but am still able to stream Netflix (no hd of course) and play Xbox Live with hardly any lag. It's just frustrating knowing I don't have a reliable connection.

The only way to truly fix the NVG510's NAD 2902 error msg is to disable the error msgs from the root GUI. Due to forum policy, I can't link any sites with a walkthrough on how to do this, however a quick search of 'NVG510 root' and an earlz website will give you a 5m walkthrough on how to fix the error without all the workarounds.
A 1-line code change to the firmware from 'yes' to 'no' can save AT&T hundreds of thousands of dollars of call center time and a ton of customer frustration.

Another fix to try that does seem to help is to plug the filters into empty unused phone jacks because that message displays due to a low noise margin in the house. The software push is coming later this year (sometime Q3). A specific date will be coming but obviously due to the long lead it's hard to know when it will be pushed.
