Send a PM to our ATT Community Manager about the outside wiring; until that gets fixed, nothing you do inside will be a fix. ![]()
mary from Ohio wrote:
Mine does the same, mine is the problem with the outside wiring on the telephone poles. I had a tech come to my house on Saturday to verify this. At least 6 splices to the main telephone line cable. When it rains it is worse. They are not going to rewire the street hopefully can fix the mess out there.
My BIG problem is the Motorola modem that redirects me to their diagnostic site on all my webpages. I have to constantly unplug the Modem to "cash" it out. Do a internet clean up, clearing out all browsing history, cookies, ect. Reboot the computer. And then it will do it again and again and again. Until Motorola finds a way to climb the outside poles to correct this problem the diagnostic tool is an inconvenient "virus" to my system. ATT must work on disabling this re-direction to this worthless website.
I called the Technicians they are no any help. I seriously think I need another type of modem in this situation…Any suggestions.

I'm a new AT&T U-Verse user-only 1 month.
The DSL modem/router is the Motorola NVG510.
All the symptoms so accurately described by TET975 are plaguing me too.
I installed the UVRT monitoring software only to discover that it is 'blind' to any modem
but the "2Wire" ones.
Aside from switching back to CABLE ISP, is there any 'fix' for this irritating problem???
TIA

Chris warned you about a truck roll charge in your other post here. Replacement equipment is shipped overnight, so you usually get it the next day.
Now IF the problem is not the RG, they should not charge you anything.

My UVerse internet started out fine, but it's been getting steadily more unreliable, and is now it's constantly dropping, to the point where it was very difficult just to get all this uploaded. Obviously something is hosed, but can anyone narrow it down?

You have some serious issues with your service. Call TS using the phone number in my sig and ask the CSR to run a test on your service for errors. When they see them request a tech be sent out to check your service. You are getting way too many errors.

You're pretty far from the VRAD, and they have you on the 32 profile, but UVRT recommends that you should be on the 25 profile.

I guess it's my turn. ![]()
After two months of good service, I'm now starting to get drops in connection for one to two minutes. This might have been going on longer, as when I asked my wife she said it happened a lot, but she never bothered to tell me. These interruptions were about every four hours, I guess. However, they seem to have been picking up to the point we can't trust our internet connection and we're using our cell phones rather than the home line.
The house is 30 years old and when the techs installed our stuff, it took three trucks of guys half a day. ![]()
My screencaps:

Much thanks in advance. I'm so happy I found this thread. And thanks to the man who wrote the diagnostic.

If you have any U-verse receivers being feed by coax cable, can you run the Extended Test and then repost the Coax/HPNA tab?

The "cable box" reciever is plugged into an ethernet/cat5 cable.
We are having that, wireless, phone, and wifi go out. Today it was for over an hour until I reset the modem/router.
Edited to add: I wrote my original post pretty poorly as I was being talked to at the time. These dropouts have only been going on for a few weeks. Generally they are one to two minutes in length but last night and today they have gotten much longer.
Also, the error page from nearly an hour after that first one, if that helps:

Thanks again.

Ok, so you only have one TV connected to U-verse?
The Error Table does indicate some issues with your system. Call Technical Support at the number shown in my signature. They will run test on your system to decide what action should be taken. You may need a visit from technician.

You're where I was for a while, and I got fed up with RG resets and losing all services. You may need to get your RG replaced, and their remote tests may not necessarily recommend that. ![]()

New RG is on the way. UPS should have it here Friday.
Thanks. Hope this works. Since the house is so old and the previous owner was a very active and unskilled handyman, I expected massive wire issues.

Hope that works for you as it did here! TS started to argue, but when they saw I had the same RG since 2007... ![]()
Make sure you get the old RG returned to a qualifying UPS Store ASAP, and get a receipt from the UPS Store. They'll pack everything and scan it for you (in case you haven't been through a return before).
Good luck!

Way too many errors and retrains. Have you called TS and asked them to run some remote tests?
Also, would you post these tabs?
IP/Profile
Coax/HPNA (unless you are all Ethernet)
Channels/Streams

That is bad, you're losing total sync somewhere along the line.
Let us know if they find out what's going on when they visit today (if they haven't already)!
If things still aren't resolved, contact our ATT Community Manager for further assistance:

The premise tech came out and checked the status of the new line installed, isolating it to an outside issue. He is submitting a ticket to have an outside tech check the hub. As of now, I have no infomation on the time that the outside tech will do his work, but I will monitor the situation and I will contact Alex if the problem continues after 8pm pst.

Hi,
I owned AT&T Uverse service for about 2 months, it was good in th beginning but starting from last week, it keeps dropping signal but i am not sure about if that's my router.
I download the testing tool, could anyone help me to verify? It's really annoying, the signal drops few times while i am trying to read articles about this online...

As an update on my situation, the connection appeared to be fixed for the last 2.5 days. However, today the problem came back. I spoke to a tier two technician and she mentioned that the problem causing the broadband disconnections may be that the modem is receiving "too much power" due to the 900ft distance from the vrad. She went on to say that a power regulator may be needed. I've never heard of that, can anyone help? (There is another technician coming out in 4 days, such a long wait....)

The power level has absolutely nothing to do with it. Your power levels are well within spec.
The problem is that you are the proud owner of the worst looking Bitloading graph ever posted to the Internet.
![]()
The nulls in your bitloading graph are caused by bridge taps. A bridge tap is an extra length of wire attached to your pair that doesn't terminate anywhere. It is usually left over from a previous customer that used your pair, or sometimes because of particular wiring schemes used in your home. Bridge taps cause problems with xDSL services.
You should call technical support, have them send a premises tech to your house to check the line. He should open a helper ticket with the Installation and Maintenance group (I&M), which are the linesmen, to come find and remove the bridge tap(s).
Also, what could also possibly help is a home run from the NID directly to your modem. The premises technician can install this when he comes.

I have been having the same problems lately and a hard reset (power cycle) of the RG sometimes will fix the problems for as much as 24hrs but usually less time. Getting very frustrating. Here are my UVRT screen captures:

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have U-Verse tv, phone and internet bundle. I lose service to all three when the modem signial is lost. This problem is too common with users, We all can't be wrong. U-Verse is the problem, its junk. I will soon be getting rid of my problem.
