If this is in the wrong forum for this subject, please move it.
I am using U-Verse Realtime version 1.9.1.0. I have attached a screenshot of the Coax/HPNAscreen. I have the RG connected to a splitter via RG6 coax and from there to three remote STBs via individual RG6 coax runs.
On the attached screen shot there are four source IDs listed each having three destination IDs associated with them. Per the Users documentation for this screen I am can rename the sources to easily identifiable names. I want to do this but I have to identify the sources. The notes say to identify the individual sources I should disconnect the coax from each STB, one at a time, and see which source disappears from the list. I have removed the coax from individual STB boxes and waited the indicated five minute update time (and longer). However, the screen remains as you see in in the attached screen shot. The disconnected STB coax does not disappear from the screen. The disconnected STB does disappear from the Channels/Streams screen. I am trying to identify the coax runs with the low PHY Rate.
Am I reading the documentation wrong or am I doing something else wrong? Any ideas?

Close the UVerse Realtime tool and re-open it.
Also, based on the items highlighted on your screenshot, it appears that you have an issue with some of your coax connections. You should make sure that all your connections are still tight. If you continue to get the highlighted items, call Technical Support and have them run some tests on your system.

Yes, I tried closing and reopening the Realtime program several times without success. However, I did find I could get the disconnected STB to disappear by running the Extended Test in the Home Portal program. I could see the source drop to zero there and then when I relooked in the Realtime program that source had disappeared from the screen. I did this with each of the STBs to identify them. I assume the remaining one had to be the RG. Is that correct?
Also, one of the PHY rates cleared up. The coax connections were all tight at the STBs and it took a wrench to loosen them. There may have been an issue in the coax shield/braid connection to the connector or the center conductor had tarnished or something. I have had to switch a port on the splitter on two occasions to get a lost signal problem fixed a year or so ago. I may need to get a new splitter but I will loosen and retighten the fittings there too.
The new screen shot is attached. Why is there any data flowing from TV-Basement to TV-Master BR and return. I don't understand this. Do the STBs talk to each other for some reason?

Looks like you still some issues with at least one connection. Call Technical Support and have them run tests on your system.

I will do some further checking tomorrow. It looks like all of the STBs to the Gateway are OK. I still don't understand what is going on between the TV- Master BR STB and the Basement STB. There are two coax runs involved with splitter between them. Why is there any data flow between any of the STBs at all.?
Thanks,
Roy

The whole house DVR process requires communication in both directions throughout the in-house network. It places extra strain on an already fragile network.
HPNA/COAX distribution must be perfect -
One piece of cable - no barrel connectors.
Compression fittings on cable ends. Tight connections.
No distortion of cable profile (stapled) or sharp bends
att splitter - all ports connected to correct connections.
If you cannot check for all these things you may want to consider using cat5,
Mine would loose signal a couple times a day because I had 3 spare ports on a 4 port splitter. When I removed the splitter the signal loses stopped.

I have done a lot testing to see which coax run may be causing the results on the attached screen shot. It appears that the run from the splitter to the Master BR STB is the culprit. It is one piece of 30 feet of RG6 coax with compression fittings and no barrel connectors. It is the only run not installed by the U-Verse installer. He reused this run, left over from a previous cable TV installation but did put new fittings on the ends. I can remove this run at the splitter and terminate that port on the splitter. Then all remaining sources show a 112 PHY rate.
The splitter that was installed with U-Verse was a Tru Spec TSB-41G. No AT&T markings on it. It has a fourth port that is unused. I found that port is open. No signal on that port at all. I asked technical support if they needed to replace the splitter or could I just go buy a new one. Their response was that they didn't replace them and it was OK to do it on my own. I'm not sure what to think about that but I went looking for a splitter and I have not found one yet with DC blocking on all of the ports. The TSB-41G does have DC blocking. Personally I feel more comfortable with DC blocking just to avoid any voltage loops anywhere that might show up. Does anyone know if DC blocking is a requirement?
Being a purist type, I would like to see 112 PHY rates on all of the coax runs but I cannot detect any operational problems. Perhaps that coax run is on its way to old age and should be replaced.

It's not a matter of being a purist. Those readings on the coax connections indicate an issue that may result in freezing and pixelation on your system. You should call Technical Support to get it resolved.

Good advice! The tech just left. He did a super job of cleaning up the HPNA numbers. In fact some of them are 128 and the rest are all 112. He replaced the splitter, the main problem, and changed out all of the coax fittings for new ones. He tested and even though the HPNA numbers were all 112 he said it didn't meet his stress test he applied. He replaced the 3800HGV-B gateway with the 3801HGV and the 128 numbers showed up. The firmware on the 3801HGV is 6.3.7.40-enh.tm. I assume that is the latest update for this box. That box was surprisingly small ! Thanks again for the suggestion. The tech guy was great and very thorough.
