Hello. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post or not, I tried calling customer support and got the run around...
When we had Uverse installed, the easiest place for the tech to put the router and everything was in my daughter's room. We've had it in the same place since the install, but now we're mounting her TV and need to move all the boxes.
There is a cable coming from the 4th ethernet port in the router which plugs into the "Network" port on the cable/DVR box. It's only about a foot long and I wanted to replace it with a longer one so we can put the router and the DVR box in different areas. (She HATES the flashing lights on the router when she's trying to sleep at night.)
I am a tech dummy and I have no idea one cable from the next. Is this just a normal ethernet cable? Can I go into Best Buy or Radio Shack and buy a regular/longer ethernet cable to replace it? Are there different kinds? Customer support told me they'd need to send a tech out to do it, as a normal ethernet cable wouldn't transmit the signal and I'm not sure I believe that and I'm not going to pay for someone to come out and clip two ends of a cable in for me..... :-)
Thank you!!

You can use a normal Ethernet cable (Cat5) you can get it at Best Buy or any other electronics store.
