Does the 2Wire 3800HGV-B work with Homegroup? I can't get my two PCs to recognize each other. Both are running Win 7 64bit. I've searched all over but can't find a definitive answer. I've read some hints that the 2Wire can't work with IPv6 which Homegroup runs on. Is that true? If so is there a work around?
I've had this router for several years. Is there something newer out there?
Thanks

ATT has not implemented IPv6 yet, suppossedly coming soon, but nobody know hows they are implementing IPv6. I've heard not at the RG, but thru the ATT servers (just had read we will not have pub IP addresses, we'll have a layer or two between us for IPv6-prob using 10.0 IP addresses). So, Homegroup may not work w/that either.
If I'm not mistaken, the newer 3801 uses the same software, but has some upgraded firmware. ![]()

Thanks! Well that explains that. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I guess the only way to set up a network is through a separate NAS like a Synology or Buffalo unit. That's really a shame when the capability is built in to Win 7.

Thanks, SomeJoe, are you using Homegroup, Win 7 and the RG?

I use normal Windows file sharing on my home network (mapped drives, using local usernames/passwords) with no problems.

Check both your firewall configuration to make sure its not blocking Home Group and your Anti-virus.
