Re: Blackjack as a laptop modem?

Actually, it's alot easier than that.  The blackjack is running AKU 3 of WM5, This allows for internet sharing on the device.  Connect your phone with the USB cable, go to Start, Applications, File Explorer then navigate to the \Windows folder.  Open it up and scroll down to Internet Sharing ( press the letter L on the keypad a couple of times to get you close to it and minimze scrolling), Select OK once you're on Internet Sharing.  Once opened, on PC Connection select USB.  Then press the left softkey for Connect.  That's it.  Your PC should now be connected through your phone.  There are no settings on you PC to mess with.  This will work with a Bluetooth connection to the PC as well.

Re: Blackjack as a laptop modem?

Thank you for the simple solution.  I am using the USB cable.  It works!  I'm in metropolitan Denver and only achieving very slow speeds, though.  According to CNET.COM test, only 31.6 kbps this method.

Does anyone get an annoying RF disturbance through their PC speakers with the Blackjack connected and the radion on?

Re: Blackjack as a laptop modem?

I usually get 110-120 on dslreports.  As for the speaker noise, every GSM phone I've ever had, has done it.

Re: Blackjack as a laptop modem?

Crazy!  I'm new to Cingular and just switched over because Verizon doesn't have a little pda/smartphone yet.  Can't say I'm impressed with Cingular as of yet.

Thanx for the help.

Re: Blackjack as a laptop modem?

Hi nesmith,

I tried your recommendatiaon. I keep getting the error on the blackjack "The Remote party has ended this connection."  when I click "Connect" from "Internet Sharing"  Any ideas?

BTW.. I'm connecting the blacjack to a Windows Vista PC. I can see the phone from the PC no problem, and browse/sync OK, so a connection has been established.

Thanks

Re: Blackjack as a laptop modem?

I think you have to disconnect from ActiveSync for this to work.
