ok, one night i was watching some 20 minute youtube video, then my router decides to shut off (now i think it was possibly updating, but why would it update days after it was initially set up?). so i go to the router, and look at the power block on the power cord, its green light was still on. but i looked at the router itself, there were no lights on. so i held the router to my ear, and i hear a quiet, rapid ticking sound. i later disocnnect the power strip its plugged into from the wall. it reboots fine. i start up my computer, and get full internet connection and speed as i did before, but the one thing i saw that was different, was that my router's wifi could not be picked up by my computer (which is 3 feet away).thinking its just my computer, i grab my ipod, and it doesnt see it either, but the LED for wireless on the router is flashing like it should. so i put my ipod up close to the router, and i get a very weak signal,1 to 2 bars. after all of this happened, my computer picked up a signal from time to time, very weak, but now, nothing, the wireless LED is off. the only way for the wireless would start working, albeit weak, is if i held my ipod or some other wireless device up to it. my service started on June 1st, and my router arrive few days before that. i have tried the factory reset, and even left it off all night, still no/a weak wifi signal. my question is, what is specifically wrong with my router? since im WELL within the year warranty, will they send me a new one?
***sorry for duplicating this from my previous topic, i just really need this fixed, i dont want to drop at&t for an issue i can possibly fix myself

If you're under warranty (assuming nvg510), then yeah, just call 8002882020, ask for tech support, they'll replace it for free. Purchased modems aren't overnighted like leased modems are though. I believe its like 3-5 day ground shipping.

ok, i switched the channel to everyting between 1 and 11, and saw no change.
When they send me a new one, will i have to send the old one back, or will they send a technician to look at the router?

ok, i have a new problem, sometimes (once a day or so), my service light will go out and my broadband light will start flashing, usually between red and green, does this have to do with the defective router, or is it my actual connection messing up here?

well, i figured out what was wrong, apparently my connection was being reset. now, in the past few days, this issue has skyrocketed in frequency. it usually happens every hour or so now, but i have had a few incidences where it would reset every couple of minutes. 10 days after my sevice starts and i feel as if my router is falling apart, along with my connection. is there anyone who can help me further?

If its the service thats dropping with the broadband and service lights going out, it's either going to be some kind of line issue or just a bad modem. Either way, that will have to be a call into tech support to get that resolved

If you're having the same result with the new modem then there is obviously a line issue, you can call TS and have them run a test on your line but, as was previously suggested, having a tech sent out is probably you're best option.

ok, i may have figured out my problem. apparently, i wasnt supposed to plug the 2wire into a surge protector, that doing so would shorten the life of the router. now will they still send me a new one? because nowhere in the instructions did it say that it would damage my router

Seriously? I thought it would damage the modem if it's NOT plugged into surge protector. I have replaced serveral modems. One of them works except a bad wireless signal. The others all died within 24 hours, no matter if they were plugged into surge protector or not. Way too frustrated...

well, that huge block on the power cord apparently is a surge protector, so double backing 2 surge protectors would not provide the unit with enough power, therefore shortening the life of it. will they have to send a tech out too look at the router, or do i have to send this one back, then theyll send me a new one?
