Address book no longer working HELP please

I've had my email for years and all of a sudden when I start typing in an email address (my computer makes suggestions as to who I want to send the email to) nothing happens and no suggestions are made. I litterally have to find an old email and type it in myself. The only change I have made is I got a new cell phone and can access my emails from it and my home computer? Any ideas what I have not checked or checked wrong on my settings for my email???
