About 4 days ago I upgraded my standard 1.5Mb Dsl line to Uverse. After the tech left i verified that my business printer could print and fax but did not check the scan to email properties. I have already changed over all of the settings for SMTP as well as the POP3 and checked my address spaces backwords and forwards. The only thing that I can think of is possibly something going on with the firewall options on the 2wire box.
The printer is an Oce fx3000 and I am emailing PDF files to a bellsouth address. Any suggestions?

Usually, reinstalling the printer software will fix the problem.

I have stripped the software off and I have put on the newest version of the sofware as well as verified that both the computer (10.0.0.34) and the printer (10.0.0.35) are communicating. I can print to it just fine and I can get my faxes in and out, i just cannot scan a pdf to email. I keep getting the same sending error every single time.

The problem has to be software or configuration, either on the computer or on the printer.

Is there any chance that AT&T could be blocking ports at a more upstream level? I know that I have everything unblocked on the firewall yet I am still not getting through. I have also had the copy technicians come out and verify the software.

What about firewalls on your own computer (Symantec, Norton, McAfee, Windows Firewall, etc.)?

They are all allowing port 25 and 495(?), i have also added the exceptions in the 2 wire device for the same ports. Smtp is set up just like this on the 2 wire as well as on the printer/scanner
| Email Program Settings Field: | Enter: |
| Incoming (POP) | pop.att.yahoo.com |
| Outgoing (SMTP) | smtp.att.yahoo.com (requires authentication) |
| Incoming mail server: | POP3 |
| Incoming/Outgoing User Name: | Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g., test@att.net, test@bellsouth.net) |
| Incoming mail port #: | 995, secure connection (SSL) checked |
| Outgoing mail port # | 465, secure connection (SSL) checked |

OK, hold on a minute.
Are you saying your printer will Scan to Email without the computer's software? In other words, the printer attempts to send the e-mail directly to the mail server?
If so, I doubt seriously you're going to ever get that to work with AT&T's system. Most devices that send e-mail like that cannot be programmed to do the correct authentication and encryption required by AT&T's mail server.
If this is how your printer is supposed to function when doing Scan to EMail, it is not a firewall or port problem. It is a lack of capability of the printer's configuration.
What printer brand and model is this?

its an Oce Fx3000 what the printer does is i hit scan and it scans the image and then fires an email to my bellsouth account in pdf form. This worked flawlessly on my dsl connection but the day after my uverse install it quit working.

OK, I looked up your printer manuals and they're very unclear about the Scan to EMail option. Apparently, the problem is indeed exactly what I surmised -- the printer's settings for mail server, port, authentication, and encryption need to be changed to support this, but the manuals for this printer do not tell you how.
I assume they need to be changed in the printer's web browser configuration panel. Go to http://<printer's IP address> and see if you can find the SMTP settings for sending mail.
If you do, attempt to set them as follows:
Outgoing mail server: outbound.att.net
Outgoing mail server port: 465
SMTP requires authentication: Yes
SMTP username: <Your AT&T e-mail address>
SMTP password: <Your AT&T e-mail password>
SMTP Encryption: SSL
If you can't set it like this (probably because it doesn't give you the encryption choice) then try this:
Outgoing mail server: outbound.att.net
Outgoing mail server port: 25
SMTP requires authentication: Yes
SMTP username: <Your AT&T e-mail address>
SMTP password: <Your AT&T e-mail password>
SMTP Encryption: None
