Well the tech showed up about 1hr early. Tested the lines and no sync. Called a line tech and he showed up about 30 min later.
Ran a new line from pole to the home.got sync and all is well (700ft to the dslam) but no dial tone on the u-voice. Waiting on tech support in chat for that.
The picture even though no hd-tv's in the home is flawless so far (crossed fingers). The dsl is I believe faster than my cox cable. The only other
problem I have had is I can;t get any of the computers to connect using wep so I opted to go for mac add filtering to allow all the known
computers I have in the home and blocking all others. The tech's were great. They even updated My mother-in-law's Line when they ran the new wire.
For installation I will give ATT a 5 on a scale of 1-2.![]()
Can't wait to call cox and shut off the cable.

Got 1 phone working. have to get a splitter to make the other work. for some reason the little dsl filter thing on the line will not let any phones work. got to go straight line to the rg from the phone. other than that everything else seems good. nice speeds and clear tone on the 1 phone.
Did the tech backfeed the dialtone from the rg to the rest of the phones in your house, through the NID? That is how mine is installed.

Not shure how this is working but. I have both phones and fax working now. I had to switch the connections on the dsl filter.
Now I have the line going from the rg to the dsl filter line in then on the split out side a line to back feed the other phones and the other side going to my 2nd phone and fax. it's working and great crisp clear sounds.
as far as I know the wiring is to the rg via coax cable then out 1 tv on ethernet and the 2nd tv back fed through the coax.
Still online and both tv's are working so I'm happy.
Called cox to shut down cable service. (that was fun)
They wanted to know what it would take to get me back told em unless they would allow me to run my own web server in my home without blocking ports then I'm not going back.
Now I got to get my server set-up and ready to feed pages;-)

Well after 2 crashes of the belkin battery backup they sent a tech by and he gave me an actual power cord for the rg.
not sure why the bb was crashing but hopefully this will fix it. Could possibly be a bad battery.

They will probably try to tempt you with offers. I got this with Time Warner, but told them no way! I called and called them
before uverse was available here asking for deals and was told basically hellno. Now that there is competetion, they
still call me begging me to come back, but i wont go back. Once I've had uverse, I dont care to go back to cable. Uverse
is far superior.

Just had the battery backup go down again. Luckly teh tech brought me an actual power cord to bypass the battery backup. I'll have to call again and have them come get and replace this one. although we have not had a blackout here in a couple of years.
bsm2003 can you give the forum some idea of how your setup would handle a 911 call with and without the battery backup. I ask this for two reasons. It came up as a question under the thread e911. They were asking about enhanced 911 that displays your address and regular 911 where you have to give your location. The second in a TWC Voice the cable modem has the telephone number for the address built into the modum which is also the battery backup. Your battery backup may just be battry backup but the company is required to provide the backup it be connected to keep the lawyers at bay. They don't want the customer to say after the loss of a family member if only I had been told it would not work during a power failure without a battery backup that works correctly.

I did get a new battery back-up. I have not installed it yet. As of now I'm still on the RG power cord. When I get time and not having to do much
I will probably switch them out. It's been a few years since this area has had a power failure or rolling blackout. After the first battery failure I just don't trust it that much.

bsm2003,
See description of Belkin battery backup, and comments, in first post on top of page 2 of this thread. Sorry about the stretch-o-vision of the post; it's a forum screen shot pasting issue.

Have seen some other posts where reliability/quality of this battery backup is questionable. Failures of your's supports this claim. Would still keep it charged in case of power outage for emergency phone use. Only problem is that during power outage searching around in the dark, with flashlight, to connect this may be last thing on your mind. Fortunately most people have cell phones for emergencies but 911 still working on trying to locate cell phone call transmissions.
Welcome to U-verse and glad your install went well! ![]()

Yep that's the one. I'm not really worried about it. My mother in law lives about 2ft from my door and she has a landline and if need be than we can use it for 911.
