I thought this would be better with its own post rather than trying to tag on to a 100+ post thread.
I have ATT Uverse 12mbs package. Phone is NOT VOIP and no TV through ATT.
I constantly get booted from online games / disconnects from servers. Downloads go from max speed to 0kb/sec then I need to reload the download or just wait about 1min for it to pick back up. Streams constantly buffer every so often (netflix/youtube etc)
So i downloaded that UVReal time and a bandwitdh monitor to prove this is hapenning. I need to know how to fix it or if its just the way it is with ATT. Cause if it is JUST the way it is, they are gone and not paying for them as of yesterday lol.
As I was writing this post and putting the images up, the internet "stopped" working again, causing me to reload again.
I have reset the modem (hard reset) and I am DIRECTLY connected.

Are you experiencing these issues with both wired and wireless connections?
I don't see any real issues in the screenshots. It appears that the RG has only been online for about 12 1/2 hours, so the Error Table does not show a good history of activity.

I would suggest that you leave the RG online for another 1 or 2 days, then repost the screenshots. Those screenshots may show a better indication of what is occurring.

I just reset my modem again to see if that would "fix" the problem and it has not. So I guess I need to go 2 weeks with the internet cutting out every 5 mins getting booted from gaming servers to show that something is not right? My first modem with them within the second day was bad, they replaced it, the one they replaced it was "bad" they gave a new one. Internet still sucked. They came out again and replaced something outside on their end. It worked for a bit but I wasn't gaming or testing the internet, just let it go since we just moved. Now that everything is setup its horrible.
Had issues with ATT regular DSL at my old place with crap quality and consistency, went with Time Warner. Thinking Uverse is a better option and better quality we went with that at our new place. Seems to be a consistent factor with ATT. =[. Hopefully there is an easy quick fix for this drops

What brand and model is the intervening router and is it running aftermarket firmware like DD-WRT?
If so, you are running into a DHCP renewal issue with DD-WRT. Please configure DD-WRT in accordance with the following guidance:

DHCP renewals are supposed to come from the IP address of the DHCP server, but the 2Wire routers have a bug in them where the source IP address is incorrect, and the Linksys's firewall will filter the renwal packet. What then happens is that the DHCP lease doesn't get renewed, instead it times out, the Linksys generates an interface reset (dropping all TCP connections and NAT translations), and begins a new DHCP renewal. Once the renewal occurs then the interface comes back up, but all connections to all servers have to be established again.
If you can't upgrade to the DD-WRT firmware right now and insert the firewall rule that will compensate for all this, then configure the Linksys so that the WAN IP address is statically-assigned instead of using DHCP. Configure it statically just like your post says. This way, the Linksys won't attempt DHCP anymore, and the interface will stay up.

What is the reason that you have your own router connected to the U-verse gateway as opposed to just using the U-verse gateway?
Would it be possible to remove your router and connect directly to the U-verse gateway to see if the disconnections still continue?

You might have some issues with your U-verse system; however, a little over 3 hours of history does not give a clear indication.

What you are describing sounds very similar to an issue that I had in October of last year with my 3800HGV-B. Eventually, my RG was replaced with a 3801HGV. Since that change, I have have no issues.
You might call Technical Support again to explain the issue that you are having. If you are unable to get things resolved, send a PM to Alex who is an AT&T Community Manager on this forum.

shortly after they replaced my modem with the new 3801HGV and said "there is an issue with your linksys router you should plug directly into the uverse modem and you wont have this problem, bye"
I get home and find the modem replaced and set everything back up, it seems to be working, will try the 18-22hour thing over the next few days and monitor it closely.
Why would it be my linksys router being the issue yet you replaced the modem? Are ATT techs designed to say there are issues with everything but their OWN service to CYA or try and blame us later when there is an issue?
This internet issue is on top of a 5+ week issue with getting an 800 number working. 4 diffeent people promised us within 3 business days and just 2 days ago we were told that we now don't have the proper papaerwork for them to establish the 1800 number. Either the 4 people before were lying or they lost it and the new person is lying. This has been a HORRIBLE experience for us with ATT....
Back on topic, thanks for the help, will keep updating here as my issue progresses

I wish the problems we're having were as consistent as some others on this thread. A few weeks ago we upgraded to uVerse with a Motorola NVG510. It looks like we have ADSL2+. We actually didn't want a router as we are very happy with our SonicWall TZ200W network security router. So we have connected the SonicWall to a port on the NVG510. After some trial and error and a phone call to SonicWall tech support we got connectivity. We are only using ethernet as we get wifi from the SonicWall. I have tons more network information, but I think I'll let the experts here ask for what they need rather than doing a data dump in my first post. Short version: we have two iPads, an iMac, a MacBook, a WinXP notebook, and a Win7 desktop. There's quite a bit of network-attached storage.
The problem is that the connection drops about half a dozen times a day. It usually lasts for a couple of minutes. My lovely wife has been doing a lot of video uploading and downloading, so this affects her most of all. Luckily we have robust software here and the site she's using for video (Vimeo) seems pretty fault-tolerant.
The NVG510 log file contains tons of entries like this:
2012-05-20T09:39:47-07:00 L3 dnsmasq[2487]: no responses from nameserver '99.99.99.53'
2012-05-20T09:39:47-07:00 L3 dnsmasq[2487]: nameserver '99.99.99.53' is now responding
2012-05-20T09:42:23-07:00 L3 dnsmasq[2487]: no responses from nameserver '99.99.99.53'
2012-05-20T09:42:23-07:00 L3 dnsmasq[2487]: nameserver '99.99.99.53' is now responding
I will happily and speedily respond to any suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help. If Dan Wilson (SomeJoe7777) happens to see this, and the problem isn't too low-level for him, I'd greatly appreciate his input.
Tony

Dan, thanks for the advioe. I assume the static IP address I should use is the internal IP address of the NVG510 (192.168.1.254). I'll give that a try Tueday. (If I'm wrong about the IP assignment, please let me know!)

Dan, that may have worked. It looks like I screwed up the initial settings on the SonicWall. User error -- so what else is new?
Let's not mark this closed and solved for a few days just to make sure. But things look promising. Thanks once more.

Sigh. Spoke too soon. Just had a complete blackout that lasted for about 20 minutes. Below are parts of log files from both NVG510 and SonicWall. This appears to be a separate problem. However, the original problem returned once we got back online. Once again, any advice will be followed as quickly as possible. Thanks. - Tony

Do this: Try to browse the internet for 1-2 days with a computer that is connected directly to the NVG510 instead of through the Sonicwall, and see if the problem persists. If it does, then you have evidence that AT&T's service is definitely dropping, and they will have to come out and get it fixed.

I'll have to think about that. If I can find a sacrificial computer, I'll give it a try Thursday. But I'm reluctant to leave the shelter of the SonicWall. Thanks, Dan. - Tony
