Hello,
I just placed an order for the u-verse bundle package. They will be here to install on the 30th of this month, however I have a few questions about the install process in my apartment.
A little background before I ask the question.
Currently I live in a two bedroom apartment. One room is setup for office/computer. The other bedroom has a tv in it and I use it for sleeping. I have a tv in the living room as well. I have my DSL setup in my office/computer bedroom. The apartment only has one cable outlet in the living room. It does however have phone lines in every room. I use a wireless phone in the office/computer bedroom.
I signed up for a bundle package with U-verse phone/internet/tv with two receivers one is HD for the living room and one dvr
My first question. Can the tech install the gateway/dsl in my office/bedroom? It has a phone line in it. The reason is, I like to keep my main computer on LAN and not wireless if possible.
My second question is , are they going to have to run cat5 cables on the floor all across my apt to the tvs that will be in the living room and bedroom?

I would assume there is no inside access in your apt to run new cabling in the walls w/o drilling (which most will not want to do that, it is an aditional charge in all cases though).
You could get a wireless STB (unit w/o DVR) to avoid wiring that one, contact ATT to see if that option is available for you.
Otherwise the rest, wait until the prem tech gets there to figure what to do (might be some cat5e involved). Good luck ![]()

Thanks, I guess I could setup everything up in the livingroom and have a wireless going into my bedroom. Then use wifi for my office/room.
If I go wireless into my bedroom would lose dvr? Or would I only have DVR in my living room?

All STBs (including wireless) have full DVR functionality - AKA whole house DVR. The one STB with the physical recording equipment should be connected cat5 to the RG. I believe it is also best to place the DVR with the least used TV.
Let us know how it goes.
