I had dsl and POTS and then I got Uverse Internet and VOIP. I chose the self-install. Setup went great no problems, internet working great phone is working great too. The problem is with the phone base station setup. I have the entire setup in the basement as I need the RG down there next to my HTPC, Xbox and Bray etc and there is only one phone jack there which is connected to RG via the green wire n port. I have my phone basestation connected directly to the RG in the basement and all other phones are just the extended sets that report to the basestation therefore no need to connect them to their respective wall jacks.
Now I need the basestation in my living room and none of my extended sets have a phone line-in connection so I cannot have any of those directly connected to RG. I keep reading about backfeeding from my RG to the wall jack and that would activate all the other phone jacks in the house. But there is only one jack in the basement and that is currently being used to connnect the internet (green wire to RG).
Can anyone suggest me a simple way to do this without running down another line in the basement.
Thanks in advance for the help

The second jack gets the black/yellow wires on the red/green terminals and is used to connect to the dial tone on the RG.
Then you have to find the other end of the wire to connect the black/yellow to the red/green of the Inside wire.
If you used a new cable everything would be the same, except all the colors line up/

I was looking at the self install description on line. It says you can connect a phone directly to the RG or back feed with a Y connector that is provided in the kit.
To me, a standard Y connector would split all four incoming wires to the two jacks on the other side & could not be used for backfeed.
So, this Y connector must be special. It must send red/green pair to one jack and black/yellow to the other. Can you confirm that this is the way the Y connector works?
You still need to sort out which path/pair is the incoming signal & which is dialtone & get the dial tone the the house wiring pair to feed the rest of the phones.
