I just signed up with uverse internet last week. I am able to connect to the internet by wiring my laptop directly to the router but the wireless internet does not seem to work. It only shows 2-3 bars even though I am only 3 feet from my router. and when I do connect to it and unplug my laptops wired connection, I am unable to load any thing on the internet. I even had a friend try and connect with her smart phone and she was unable to connect to my wireless. does anyone know what would be wrong? Is my router defective and need to be sent back?
my router is the 2wire 3600HGV

Call TS using the phone number in my sig and let them know what is going on. Ask the CSR if they will turn up your wireless signal on the RG. I have had this done in the past. But before you call unplug the AC cable from the RG for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. If you still can't get a wireless connection to the internet call TS.

You should not have the wire connected while you are trying to connect wirelessly. Disconnect the wire, reboot the laptop, and then try to connect wirelessly.
Also make sure you are connecting to the proper network. Your network name, or SSID, will be 2WIREXXX where the x's will be the last three numbers in the serial number of your gateway.
