I have Uverse 3600 installed and it has been working flawlessly for over a month. Suddenly, a couple of days ago, it started loosing synch. I called ATT and they send a Tech who replaced the gateway. When this did not help solve the problem, he sent an ATT cable guy to look for line problems. The cable guy could not figure out or find any problem. Meanwhile, I get the problem not resolved. Few times a day I loose synch and drop connection for hours at a time. I noticed some funny thing. When I loose the synch, If I unplugged the Ethernet cable on the back, it synchs. If I plug the Ethernet back , sometimes it stays synch and sometimes it looses synch !!!
Just driving me crazy !!
Any one encounters such thing? Any thoughts how to go about solving such problem?

Can you download and install SomeJoe's tool at the link below?
http://www.uverserealtime.com/
Once you install the tool, please post screenshots of the following tabs: IP/Profile, Error Table, Bitloading, & Coax/HPNA.
We can take a look at the screenshots to see if there appears to be any issues with your system.

I don't mind installing a tool like this. Because of security and other considerations, I need to know first:
1- What kind of problems can this tool help to solve, and what problems can not help?
2- If the problem is an outside line problem, can this tool of any use and what does this tool do?
3- Does this tool connect me to outside sites?
Thanks
Why Gateway drops connection when you plug Ethernet?

Additional Info:
If I unplug the Ethernet cable from the back, it synchs again in few minutes and I can use the Gateway in wireless mode fine. If I re-plug the Ethernet cable (different devices), it drops the synch. This happens every time like that. We replaced the Gateway, but the problem and symptoms are the same.
Any explanation? Any possible reasons?

It will give stats to show where something is possibly amiss, and outside errors can be pinpointed to (possible) bridge taps on your line.
Posting will let others give advice on what's going on, and what to tell TS when you call for a fix.
No going to outside sites with the program.

I am having the exact same problem with my 3600HGV. Tech is coming out tomorrow to take a look but I don't have high hopes. The moment I plugin an ethernet cable it loses sync with the broadband. If I unplug the ethernet cable it syncs right back up. I've updated NIC drivers, tried different cables, even tried a different NIC, changed NIC settings, etc. and nothing has worked. It is certainly maddening at this point.

I am having the same problem on my i3812V Gateway with ATT Uverse.
Problem Signs...
Full network runs fine (i have a continuous ping running to google on a laptop).
After a while the ping responses will go from 50 upwards to 2000ms till I eventually start getting packet loss.
If I do nothing the Internet and TV both will eventually fail and go out.
My home network included
3 Desktop PCs - Wired to Gigabit switches
1 Network Ready TV - Wired to Gigabit Switch
1 sip phone - wired to gigabit switch
3 laptops - wirelessly connected
2 tablets -wirelessly connected
1 media server - wired to gigabit switch
ps3 - wired to gigabit switch
wii - wirelessly connected
I have tracked the problem down to my main PC, if I disconnect the network cable running to that machine. The internet returns, ping responses drop back down to 40-50ms and the TV comes back on as well.
I have tried using different network cables, a different ethernet card, replaced switches, ect...
I've ran every virus scanner I can thing of looking for some nasty virus on my machine. (nothing has come up)
Nothing seems to help.
HOWEVER, if I use a wireless adapter to connect to the gateway instead of a ethernet cable/card all appears to work flawlessly. If it was any other computer in the house I would leave it at that, but I would much rather prefer to be connected to my network via Gigibit connection instead of wireless.

kardsen - Can you call up the window that shows what is running on your PC? Try quitting everything & see if it returns to normal.

Correction,
Connecting Wirelessly has the same effect (just took about 15min longer to become degraded).
Next Step is to format my machine and reinstall a fresh copy of windows 7.
