For the last 4 days each day when we try to get on our computers the wireless isn't working. The TV is on and working but we can't use our laptops. I have to disconnect the power and restart. My tower doesn't always work pushing the button on the front so I unplug it. But then I have a difficult time getting it to restart when I plug it back in.
Can someone help us, my household is very fustrated with this.

I am having the exact same problem. The laptops always worked before and for the last few days they keep disconnecting and the only way I can get them find the signal again is to unplug the modem and reset it. This is a pain as it is happening every couple hours. Please help!

Experiencing the same problem but only on my MacBook Air; all other devices are working fine including the iPhones and iPads. Can't receive mail on my laptop nor can I access Mac APPS. Just started the last two to three days.

Same problem. i was on the phone with tech support for 45 mminute and they sent me overto connect tech.. Doyou think its right that I should have to pay extra for this??
The connect tech rep explaine dthat the problem is because over time, as you add more an dmore wireless devices, your settings have to be reconfigured periodically to make sure everything connects. It sounds like such a scam to me, then again, myunderstandi of internet and wifi connections is extremely limited.
Any thoughts?

They are telling you that you have to pay for this service, their service that is not functioning properly anymore, are you kidding? I think it is time to go with another provider, I am not paying for them to fix their mistake!

Hi,
Pease let me know the model of router you are using and I can research the issue. I can then give you some steps to follow to see if we can't resolve the issue.
Thank you,
JustinF

Hi,
Have you updated the firmware of the modem?
Does your laptop still see the network when it isn't able to get online?
Can you ping yahoo.com and see if there are any errors?

Hi Justin. I have not updated the firmware. Please advise how to do it and I will try that.
The computers can see the network and it says they are connected with limited connectivity. It only becomes fully connected if I unplug the router and restart it each time.
How do I ping yahoo.com? Tell me how to do that and I will try that as well.

HI,
Okay so, that error message makes me think of some other steps I would like you to take.
1. Hold down your windows key and press the letter "R"
2. In the Run box type "cmd"
3. In the black box that just came up type "ipconfig"
4. On the screen you should see a lot of information, please tell me what you IP address is under your wirless connection.
5. Type into the black box "ping yahoo.com" - tell me if there is any packet loss
6. How old is your modem?

Hi,
Everything looks good there. Is that the ipconfig when you are getting the error message or when you are online? I would need to see the ipconfig when you are not able to connect. Also when you get disconnected please do the following in the cmd window:
type "ipconfig /release" - then press enter - you should see info either blank or all zeroes
type "ipconfig/renew" - then press enter - you should then see the correct information
If after you use the ipconfig /renew you still cannot surf, I think it may be an issue with the modem. It seems like it stutters and loses connectivity all together not just the wireless. This can be caused by intermittent connectivity issues or a faulty modem. If you have called into tech support and they have checked your line to make sure everything is okay, then I would advise getting a new modem. That is only after they check the integrity of the line and it shows that it has no issues.

I too am having a similar issue - only my system right next to the modem connects - intermittedly. None of my other computers/devices in the house will connect at all -doesn't even find the network , last week we had no issues with 3-5 computers/devices running. I have a 3801HGV router that is about 1 year old. How do I make sure the firmware is updated?

Hi,
Please use the following link to access your modem's GUI < http://support.2wire.com/?page=view&article=60 >. If you look at the first screen shot of the GUI it shows under Network at a Glance "Software 5.29.47". Your modem may have a different version depending on the model. But I would also like you to use the instructions to change your wireless channel and power output. Please let me know if you have any issues. If after you have changed the settings on the modem you may need to call tech support to have them run tests to make sure the line integrity is good coming into your home.
Thank You,
JustinF

Hi,
Did you try using the link I provided in an earlier post to change the power and wireless channel settings? I'm sorry
you are experiencing these issues, did the technicians test your line before they came to the conclusion that the modem
was the issue?
Thank You,
JustinF

If your wireless devices keep disconnecting, but your wired devices (and TVs and VOIP) keep working, Then yes it's a possibility the radio in your Modem/Gateway/Router might be failing. More than likely though, your issues are caused by interfence or overcrowded airwaves. Take a look at this thread ( http://forums.att.com/t5/Features-and-How-To/How-t
