I paid $3.65 tonight; others in the area were $3.69 and up.

SPD, thats exactly how much i am paying in my end of town too! I guess my driving over to your side or you coming out this way wont save us anything. I heard there where some decent prices up on the north east (but WAY up near woodlands)... burn more getting there and back home and then need to fill up again once we got home. lol
WB: I've been to BAy City Michigan, theres a BC in Texas too! Yours is the home of the "Bay City Rollers". With gas prices these days, i might resort to puttn on a par of roller skates for transportation, grab hold of the tail bumper of a car or truck going my way and same a few bucks i could use for lunch!

Man, this blows big time. Paying close to or already $4 per GALLON is ridiculous. I remember when President Obama was first inaugurated, the price was actually down to $1.89...
Yeah and when "Slick Willie" was in, I was debating if I should cross the six lane street to pay 73 cents a gallon. Instead, I settled for 75 cents per. That was 1998 and Mom said that she was visiting in Southern Missouri and gas was 56 cents per gallon. No legitimate reason for these prices, now. Supply and Demand? Yeah, okay. The supply is just fine and there is demand. Demand to rob us, that is. ![]()

Yup, he does, see them all over Houston.
And you're right about driving for a lower price, not worth it, IMO. If you'll be near the area of the lower price whle driving to your destination, go for it.

If you have a smartphone the Gasbuddy app is crucial. You can touch the screen and it will find all gas prices in the area (using your phone's GPS) and you can sort them by price. You can then do a map view. The map is nice as most folks try to combine trips, then you can look for your planned route to see if it's cheaper where you are headed. Simply driving to get a good price is usually not worth it but the gasbuddy app (or gasbuddy.com on the PC) can help east the pain a bit.

In the very early 1960's we paid 17.9 cents per gallon for regular gas....in Central Kansas.
Now $2.80 looks pretty good!

In my lifetime almost everything except electronics you can add a zero to the cost you would have paid 50 years ago. Gas is even worse. I paid 3.69 it had been 3.80 earlier in the week.

Could be worse, if we lived in the EU...they've been paying $5 or more for years, IIRC.

Well Spd we may see $5/gal in the very near future.
Yesterday they raised prices here from $3.88/gal to $4.16/gal at almost every gas station.
Just in time to gouge customers for weekend travel. I also wonder if because the oil companies are going to be investigated by the Feds for overcharging, if they figure they may try to make huge profits before they are stopped. ![]()

SPD, the local news station finally got around to reporting on the Shell Station near galleria that is already charging 5/gallon "and people are buying it".
This is that one station that's known for higher prices than any location in the entire city, and for what reason, i dont know, its not like its the rolls royce of Kwik-e-Marts.

Galleria area people are richer than most of us, so probably no big deal! ![]()
I paid $3.79 the other day, and missed the $3.66 price the night before.

Just paid $3.769 at Exxon it was $3.809 or higher up until last week.
The Galleria crowd may be charging it to a business account.
I hate when I see the price going to work and it is up a nickel when you have time to pump it n the way home.

Then everybody shift from purchasing gas from a different giant the next quarter. This way if we can bust just one quarter per giant, maybe they would pass some of those quarterly dividends down to the pumps. This is just me ranting because i just pumped some gas (not exxon) , and feel shell and I should get married now that shell pimped the pump out to me and I had to pay dearly.

Could be; it's a VERY BUSY CORNER! Probably a lot of out-of-town traffic, too.
One station in the area had $3.59 WITH car wash. They always offer a considerable discount with a wash, and if it was a wash without brushes/cloths that scratch paint, I'd be all over it!

Thanks RC. You made me feel better now. I just paid $3.719 for 89 octane at our local Casey's quick stop. Don't need the 89 octane in my Camry hybrid BUT I would have had to drive about 1 1/2 miles to get to an outlet that has 87 octane and it would have been the same price. So far....over here on the east side of Kansas City I have not seen anything as high as what you paid except for the very highest grade gas and a couple of the low volume diesel pumps were at about that price.
