How many, two? It's hard to see with that feed today--tried last night, but after dark.

Which cam? The Jordan River cam has two eaglets, IIRC. My wife commented that mama had some food hid under her and she would get it out, feed the first, feed the second and then repeat.

Just finished watching the eagle cam at the Decorah, Iowa preserve. Great shots. This is the male of the pair that occupy the nest we've been watching for nearly a year.

Yup, a few of us left, and about as scarce as a Native-born Houstonian! I admire people who can do the rehab, then release. I could not let them go back into the wild to be possibly injured again.
Great shot you got in the nest! I bet that beak could snap a finger off with one bite?

Nice screen shot Skeeter. Been noticing that they are intensifying their fix-up efforts. I swear I've become a bald eagle addict.

The look small, just like regular backyard birds...until you realize how big that nest is! Good shot, skeeter!

Sequoyah National Forest has 3 chicks. 1st chick hatched 1/24, 2nd chick hatched 1/26, last chick hatched 1/29. All three chicks appear to be healthy.

It's snowing right now in Decorah, Iowa. No place to go. Just sit on the branch of the big tree where the nest is located....and take it.
Further more.....there is video available on the site of the two Bald Eagles mating AND another video of them in the nest together doing their repairs and maintenance...then the female gets friendly and makes an attempt to get dear old dad interested in her. All the folks keeping track of the unfolding of events are waiting anxiously for the appearance of the eggs. In 2011 it occurred on about Feb. 23rd.

Saturday afternoon, Mom and Dad were sitting on the limb, by the nest. Someone was actively controlling the camera. I gave up my Vizio Tablet so that my wife could watch. No eggs, yet. They were panning and zooming in on their faces and feather structure. My wife was fascinated by the sheer number of feathers. Millions, it looked like.

Mom is sitting on it now....trying to get some sleep. Next question: Will there be a #2 & #3 like there were last February?

No. I was watching the chats comments which sometimes fly by so fast I can't get them read. But one commenter said he/she lived just 38 miles from the nest and it was not cold there in NE Iowa. Of course what is NOT cold to an Iowan might be frigid to a lot of the rest of us.
Another egg probably won't drop for a couple of days or so.

I know it's Nature, but I still feel really bad for the wildlife and homeless domesticated animals out there.

I saw the egg drop news on my U-Stream app, for the Decorah camera. Phil is your wife fascinated with the Eagles too? If so, you can put the U-Stream app on her iPad. I have a Vizio 8" Android tablet. I prefer watching them on that than on the PC.

Not an eagle, but just as amazing. Folks from around the country have been flocking to Rowlett, just east of Dallas for a Snowy Owl that has shown up this far south. Here are some amazing pictures of this beautiful owl.

Amazing. Beautiful creature. I had read a short article on this some time back. I seem to recall that warmer Artic waters have decreased the lemming population and it's a survival effort by the owls to come further south. Canada's loss.....our gain.

Nope. My wife, although interested in the progress reports, doesn't follow the Decorah eagles as closely as I do. I forwarded your suggestion to her and got only a negative shake of her head. But thanks for the info. Some others may be interested.
By the way.....there are two eggs now. We all wonder if a third one is in the works.

Did you see this screen shot of Mom covered in snow?

Poor thing. She'd just laid egg #2 but she's such a good mommy, she protected both with her body.

Both parents devotion to each brood is inspirational.
I read that their feathers have phenomenal insulating qualities. That's why the snow on her back didn't melt but protected her and the eggs.

Hooray! Mom laid her 3rd egg last evening.....2/24/12 at about 8:05 PM. First time we got to see all three eggs was almost 12:30 AM this morning. There is video of both occasions.
When I checked the temperature in Decorah, IA at around 3:00 AM it was 12 degrees with a wind chill of 1 degree. But I guess eggs are like babies.....they choose their own time to come.
This morning pop is taking his turn at keeping them warm and the camera guy zoomed in for some close-ups. Really sharp image:

I checked in at 8:30 last night and she'd just laid the 3rd egg.
Poor little thing looked pooped!
ETA: I graabbed a screen shot of the first view of all three eggs:
