81 so far today (predicted 84 to break a record); was in the 80's yesterday. Much warmer than usual this time of year, but I like it. Low humidity is great! Everything is blooming like crazy here!

It never really got cold here this year (yay!), and fewer freezes, no snow...so we're warming quicker. Down side...mosquito outbreak--though they never really went away here.
One TV report is blaming the outbreak of severe weather in the midwest on our warmth in the Gulf. ![]()
It's supposed to cool down for the weekend, not happy about that.

Our low reading last night was 26 degrees. Today's high reading was 72 degrees. That's a HUGE difference in a 12 hour period. But It was nice and sunny. My wife took Alfie outside in the yard and he stretched out for a nap in the warm sun and she cut back her knock-out rose bushes. Should have done it last fall but never got around to it.
We had that same storm front pass through here that created the deadly tornadoes elsewhere. We got a little rain and alot of wind but no damage. The front was whipping through at 65 mph so it did not last very long. Several small communities in Missouri and Kansas got really devastating damage. Famous Branson in S. Missouri, home of all the semi retired CW performers and their theaters, really got hit hard. Lots and lots of destruction.

Luckilly, no tornadoes in Central Indiana but about 100 miles South of here was very hard hit. Henryville, 20 miles North of Louisville was hit hard and a few small towns were more or less, wiped out. Sad. We had three rounds of hail but none bigger than marbles.

Yeah, pretty sad and saw the death toll is up to 28 for a three state area (14-Indiana, 12-Kentucky, 2-Ohio). Just high winds here and now the cold front has rolled in.
They said on the news tonight the average number of tornados for the whole month of March across the US is 72. There's been 91 already in the first 2 days of March. Know the weather is supposed to "March in like a Lion" but lets hope the weather settles down soon.

Sounds like it's the warmth from the Jet Stream? We cooled down here overnight, in a matter of seconds. It was 63 when I was out earlier, sunny, but feels cold after being in the 80s!
Spring is coming, I can see it all around, if the weather would just stay warm.

Yeah....these temperature gyrations are really irritating. When I took Alfie out for final draining at 3:00 AM it was 27 deg. and my remote reading thermometer shows that the low was 25.5 degrees. Right now it's up to 55 deg. and still climbing.
That fast moving line of thunderstorms that produced the Harveyville, Kansas and Branson, Missouri tornados sailed right past us. Thank goodness. I was watching it on local radar and there was a little hole in the line that moved over us so all we got was a brief period of high winds and some rain. Someone upstairs watching over us I think.

Yeah, that would be nice!
When those tornados hit, the jet stream bringing the cold air down from Canada was traveling at 150 mph when it slammed into the warm air. Guess that's why there were so many and so violent.
Watched snow showers come down intermittently almost all day. No accumulation but they may have some in N. Ohio tonight.
28 now, 19 by morning, and hope it doesn't damage all the flowers, budding trees & vegetation. ![]()

Not very toasty here at 23 but at least it will hit 55 in the afternoon and be sunny. Near 65 and sunny Weds! ![]()

but it was a cached page from last week. Whew! No severe weather for the next 7 days!

So much for the sunny and 69 temps yesterday and will be 32 by tomorrow morning.
Drove the trash down to the road at about midnight last night. Real eerie out with full moon seen through fast moving clouds, high winds, solar flare waves hitting the earth, coyotes howling in the distance, dogs barking at the coyotes, etc..
My son emailed me the night before and said a pack of coyotes had moved into his small town causing all the dogs to go ballistic. Pretty bold and the coyotes are following the rustic railroad tracks as their route.
54 and "rain mist" right now. Sure isn't mist here and just plain raining.

In 70's now and sweated so much doing outdoor work, I had to shower again, LOL! Got rid of bags of old mulch and bedding soil--found lots of mosquitoes in there! Got one bag of Mexican Pebbles down in a flowerbed, but need to buy a couple more bags (drip line from roof makes path in soil).
Waiting for heavy rains, and hope they'll wash off the mess left from the bags.
Going to turn cooler after the rain. ![]()

Sounds like you're getting a bunch done. Good deal and I need to do a bunch of yard stuff done too.
I was down by my Jeep the other day and had the door open on it when it was 60 degrees. Within 1 min a mosquito bit me in the neck and then 4 more flew in the Jeep. We sure are going to pay for a mild winter and it's going to be a biting bug fest.
Had 3/4" rain today and already about 2" above normal for the year. We sure don't need another wet year like we had last year. ![]()

In the 80's here, and we've beat our record for RAIN for this time in the year!
Had a scare last week as it was coming down so hard, the drains out back were bubbling up because street water was over the drain pipe to the street! Mosquitoes never went away, but they are loving this!
Found a flying roach dead in the living room (cats had already killed it), and a live one in the master bedroom...well, actually Jackie and Leo found it. Normally, they come indoors looking for water when it's dry, not the case this time, so I think it's the rats' nest next door since the neighbors moved out! Landscaper working on the place mentioned lots of flyers in the groundcover! OK, my skin is crawling now, LOL!

Already bloomed down here, and I just love that fresh, light green all over! We could still get a frost or freeze as well; remember one years ago in May!
Let's hope the snow and cold stays away!

Had a full 2 hours of lightening/thunderstorms late last night/early this morning and don't remember them ever lasting so long. Glad we didn't have a power outage since the lightening was right on top of us. Then heard something hitting the house, went out on the back porch, and 1/4" hail covered the ground.
There's about 1,000 daffodils blooming in the woods/yard around here and hope the hail didn't beat them to shreds. I'm not exaggerating on this number and they have spread like crazy over the past 50-75 years since they were planted.
Figured this warm weather would be bringing some severe weather. They showed on the news last night where the warm oceans are keeping the jet stream pushed clear up into Canada. It better stay there until summer but can't see that happening. We're running temps 25 degrees above normal for March. Even had to install some screens in the windows yesterday and don't ever remember installing them so early in the year.
Can't believe I may be mowing grass already next week with all this rain and warm weather. Sure am glad I didn't go to the extreme hassle of putting my snowblade/chains on my lawn tractor and left the mower on. ![]()

80 dfegrees forecast for the next 5-7 days, here, too. My side of town missed the storms (though the wife drove through a monsoon five blocks from home) but there were some big ones around. A girl practicing with her softball team got struck by lightning in Seymour. She went from critical to good condition, so that is good. The parents of another girl said tht it was not raining, thundering or anything and it just struck. ![]()

81 degrees here again yesterday for the second day in a row, ran the AC for a couple of hours ( in March!!!) it was getting warm in the house with the windows open. Cold front came down Lake Michigan last evening and dropped the temp. 15 degrees in an hour, as of now it's up to 76 and sunny.
Read that with the lack of heavy snow pack, spring flooding shouldn't be an issue this year. Good news for those in the problem areas.

Love to be on the Eastern shore of Lake Michigan, right now. I bet that the Fata Morgana style mirages are visible. This happens in Spring when the air warms up into the 70's or 80's but the Lake is still cool. Like this photo from Lake Superior.

Well, it ws a interesting morning. Got just under 5 inches of rain in 75 minutes with some 1/2 inch hail mixed in for about fifteen minutes.
The french drain next to my house discharges about a hundred feet away out in the yard through a 6 inch popup. It blew the top off and water was gushing about 18 inches in the air.

I am enjoying this weather but it is really weird walking around in short sleeved shirts in March. This is what Spd has gotten to experience all those years. We are having temps in the 70s and almost 80 next week. Then again we still have April to deal with and get past. If any of those Texas flying roaches show up hopefully they will get taken out by the Michigan cold. But hopefully we won't see anymore MI cold until next winter.
