Another nice cool morning, temps in the mid 50's but mother nature starts cranking up the thermostat today. Still calling for 100 - 105 tomorrow with heat index near 110. There is a chance for some thunderstorms later tomorrow afternoon, fingers (and toes) crossed on that.

Nice again, this morning. Very comfortable. Supposed to hit 92 today but the humidities are low. The current dewpoint is 48 with an air temp of 86. That makes a 27% humidity. VERY low. There are Fire Warnings / Red Flag warnings, right now.
Still forecast to hit 102 tomorrow and 100 on Friday. Looking at the graphical forecast on the NOAA website, the DP may not hit 60 tommorow and that may keep heat indicies lower. The DP will be in the mid 60's (getting sticky) by Friday, so Friday and Saturday may feel worse, even if the temp is a bit lower. Yecch!
With the increasing humidity, there may be some daily pop-up storms from Saturday onward.

Another scorcher here in in DFW area, hit 104 today. Going to be over 100 again for the next few days. Hopefully we don't have another stretch like we had last year when it went 40+ days

Nice the last two days but looking for 100 the next 4 or 5 days. That is unusual for us to have more then one or two days if it hits 100. The 90s are normal.

Well it's anything BUT comfortable here. 1:30 AM and it is still 83.4 degrees outside with 55% relative humidity. Our hottest weather is still to come. We had a high of 103 on Wednesday. Out in Western Kansas.....they have had three straight days with high reading of 115 deg. That cell of extremely hot air is headed straight for the Kansas City area. So the TV forecaster we rely on predicted a possible 107 today (Thurs.)
No precip. in the forecast in the forseeable future. I really dread July and August. We are coming very close to having the hottest temperature for anytime in June in all of recorded history in the Kansas City area. Right now only 1934 is in 1st place.
The upper atmosphere above our heads is full of smoke from Colorado and Utah fires. So, even though we have no clouds tonight, the stars are very dim. I noticed today that we had a lot of "white" sky instead of the usual deep blue.

We arrived in S. Cal to visit my daughter last night. Temps in 50's at night with high of 70-72 during the day. I always thought it would be nice to be out here in the winter to flee the cold temps. But didn't know we'd be fleeing the heat back home with temps approaching 100 the next 3 days. Can see why they say SD has the nicest weather in the US!
BTW, when going through Port Columbus yesteday for the 1st leg of the trip to Washington, DC, I made a mistake and had my wallet in my pants pocket going into the x-ray machine. Guess that warranted being "patted-down" twice by security and won't make that mistake again.

It wasn't bad this morning but the temps and the DP have went up. 103 @ 1:55!
Record Heat/Driest June on Record so far at Indianapolis
...Indianapolis Sets Record for Longest Dry Period in June...Now Longest since February 8-March 4, 1983... (see precipitation section below)
Record High Temperature for June Broken Thursday Afternoon...Record High Temperatures Possible Friday
Temperatures are forecast to reach near 105 degrees this afternoon and near 100 degrees Friday and Saturday in central Indiana, approaching or exceeding record values. The record high monthly temperature for June was broken at 1:55pm EDT on June 28 when the temperature at Indianapolis reached 103 degrees. This is the highest reading for the Indianapolis area since 103 degrees on July 15, 1988.
The earliest the temperature has ever reached 100 degrees at Indianapolis was June 2, 1934. The record high for Indianapolis for June 28th is 101 degrees and for June 29th is 100 degrees, both set in 1934. The all time record high for Indianapolis for any month is 106 degrees and last occurred on July 14, 1936. This record may be approached this afternoon.
As of June 28 the number of 90 degree days in May and June stood at 13, the most for that time period since the Great Drought of 1988 which had 17. The number of 90 degree days is expected to reach 15 by June 30 and continue into July. The record for May and June is 19 days set in 1934.

104 @ 3 PM - only 2 degrees off the all time record! Hottest in 58 years!
IN ADDITION TO SETTING RECORDS FOR THE DAY AND MONTH...THE 104
DEGREES IS THE WARMEST SO EARLY IN THE SEASON FOR THE INDIANAPOLIS
AREA.
THE 104 DEGREES IS ALSO THE WARMEST IN NEARLY 58 YEARS...SINCE IT
WAS LAST 104 DEGREES ON JULY 14 1954.

High reading this afternoon.....106.5 degrees. Weatherman says the high pressure anti-cyclone is so large that we probably won't get any precip. of any consequence for seveeral more weeks.

Officially hit 100 here in Chicago for the first time in 7 years. My backyard weather station recorded 101.5 with a dew point of 80 and a heat index of 118 mid afternoon, it was oppressive. A couple of storms did fire, one cell went north and another went south, left me stuck in the middle with nothing.

We watched the storms on radar, they made it as far as North Central Indiana and the to the NE part of the state. I only saw some outflow cloud bands from them. There is a boundry over North Central Indiana, so there is a 30% chance of storms today - best chance of rain sincxe June 4th!
NOT comfortable this morning. Already over 80 and it only fell to 77, last night. Very oppressive air, this morning.

Cooler today, only low 90's
matter of fact, low to mid 90's forecast straight through the 4th. 30% chance of storms this afternoon and 40% chance tonight, any storm capable of producing torrential downpours (good)
and golf ball size hail (not good)

Our outdoor temp probe peaked at 103.2 yesterday afternoon
Right now it's delightfully, heavily overcast, 75, and light occaisonal rain (< 0.1"/hour). Every blade of grass in my yard has joined together in a great green chorus. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!![]()

I like Uni's way of beating the heat. Leave town for the best weather in the country. LOL
Yesterday it was still 101 at 6PM did not want to know what the high for the day was.
The heat normally does not really bother me but it did yesterday so I know it was over the line for everybody. Looks like July 4th may be the first day below 100.

Oh how we'd like some of that rain, SPD. Please send some up our way.
I put the jackets back in the closet. Today's hi reading was back up to an even 105.0 degrees. Right now....at 8:04 PM it is 93.7 out there. Dry as a bone. My wife has been watering our plants every other morning. Tomorrow I think I shall start giving the big plants....the trees and ornamentals in our landscaping some deep water with the long hose attachment.

Would like to help you out, Phil! When I emptied the gauges yesterday, 3". I'm still monitoring water for sick trees. ![]()
I don't think the rainfall was consistent for the whole area as it usually isn't in a city of our size.

Yesterday 106. Noting more to say. Been watering my moss under the trees. It looks like it is filling in the spaces between clumps. If you think grass grows slow try growing moss.

We got more heavy rain this AM, expecting more; not complaining for now. Only 84 now!

Our high today was 102.5....down a bit from yesterday. We had an area of thunderstorms move in from the west yesterday evening. But missed us completely. Nary a drop of moisture did we get. Temperatures near or above 100 deg. are forecasted through next weekend.
Feel cooler now????

Been in the 90's all weekend and forecast calling for mid to upper 90's with high heat indices through next Saturday. Nothing in the way of rain up here but some of our southern burbs have been hit with isolated heavy storms the past couple of days.

Thanks for the concern Spd. I'm doing ok but only because I'm out in SD and home is part of the disaster/another story.
My son is taking care of our place along with the pets. He arrived right before the big storm hit which knocked many big trees down blocking the drive and wiping out the power lines. He said the 800' power line are snapped off of 3 poles laying on the ground under a mess of trees. Luckily he is well trained in using a chainsaw and cut himself out of the drive. Running my generator 24/7 with $40-$50 of gas per day. Also he can't run everything since only 5,500 watts. Smart kid, or I should say young man, and I explained how to wire a special cord I made up to connect to the 220V water well submersible pump box so at least he has water.
A buddy of his went to my place last night and they got up on the roof to clear all the big limbs/tree debris off. And at least I still had a hardline phone to talk to him and he had the living room TV/STB/RG working off of the generator. That changed real quick last night about 8pm when another big storm rolled in and took the AT&T phone/UV service out. He's ticked and can't even use the internet for texting. He rebooted everything, w/o success, and the lines must be down. Getting ready to spend a bunch of time talking to TS and who knows if they'll even come out to fix the lines.
Bummer situation all around and they're calling for more storms which is just great....

We were on the far SW end of the thunderstorm / Derecho complex and we got the wind but little rain and no hail. Look at this video composite of the storm on radar.
We had 70 mph winds for 15 minutes and luckilly nothing got damaged too bad.
It rained three separate times Friday and Saturday but less than a half inch total.

WOW, Uni. I'm so sorry to hear about all your damage. But very grateful that you were not home where you might have been injured......and that your son was nearby to at least perform some minor repairs. We humans are delivered a forceful attitude adjustment every so often my mother nature regarding WHO is boss. I'm so glad you folks are OK.
Still super hot here. Expected to stay this way through next weekend and, perhaps, even beyond that. No improvement in sight.

Having the Kid finally paid off for you Uni. Good thing you have the generator so you don't lose a lot of food. Rest up because I know you will try to kill yourself cleaning up when you get back home. Hope the power is back on by that time. Fix the kid a steak dinner for looking after the place.
