I heard some of these on The Weather Channel, over the weekend:
You know it is cold when:
Your Shadow remains frozen to the sidewalk
and
When driving, instead of getting the finger, you get the mitten

ROFLMAO @ D
Unless something really strange happens this year, we WON'T be having a white Christmas like last year here in Dallas. Looks like it will be shirt sleeve weather which is fine by me.

You know it's been cold when. . .
My son and I are leaving for work and school @ 7:30 and as we walk out to our cars my son says "It's not that bad this morning." I smile and nod in agreement.
It was 12 degrees. ![]()

Amen! My wife asked if I was freezing after my half mile walk from work to my parking spt and I said no, it wasn't half bad. It was like 10
BUT I will take that any day over 20 with a 30 mph wind!

Here's a fun map/ animation from NOAA. Shows snowcover for the US/Canada in time lapse.
Edit:I'm no weather expert but it seems that snow is much further south than it should be for this time of year.

Local weatherman pointed out it has snowed 16 of 17 days in December. And guess what? It rained the one day we didn't have snow. It must have been at the beginning of the month since way too cold to rain the past couple weeks.
It's bad enough it's so cold out but believe the below info from weather underground may be wrong saying it was 4 degrees at midnight. It was probably 14 since the below link from NOAA seems to be a little more accurate. Regardless, pretty darn cold and 80+% humidity doesn't help.

Gee, if it's this cold now wonder what Winter will bring when it starts next Tues, Dec 21? And how often do we have a total lunar eclipse on the 1st day of Winter? Strange.....

I feel for you folks that are going through that wintery mess. Remember though, Al Gore says it's global warming. More like an ice age is hear if you ask me.

When I was in high school I knew how to do the conversion from celsius to farenheit and vice versa. That would be -13f. And they won't see much daylight eiter.

The weather guessers have updated our forcast and 70's all week until the cold front on Friday gets here. 20 degree drop then, but still in the 50s. Last year we had a white Christmas, don't think so this year.

No, not snowed in and plowed the drive today. But only 4WD vehicles can get up my drive. Need to put down some calcium chloride, or may try/use some wood stove ashes. The tire tracks are packed down to real slick snow and almost like ice. Have to do something about it because once you get heavy snow on top of that it's a bear to get up. Calling for possible 5"-6" over Christmas weekend.
Real heat wave at 29 today after being at 0 all night. For some reason I'm in a small area where we are getting the coldest temps for Central Ohio. At least 10 degrees colder here than at the Cols Airport. ![]()
I'll try to get some photos of Charlie in the snow. ![]()

Those high temps are sickening Spd but good for you. ![]()
Real heat wave here and will finally be above freezing for 2 days. Hopefully it will melt some of the packed snow/ice off my drive. But calling for a rain/snow mix today - yuk.
Christmas weekend sure isn't looking good for travelers. That's when all the West coast rains, causing mud slides, will hit here in the form of snow. Saw where they're calling for 8 feet of new snow in Central Colorado. Wow!
Just heard on the news the East coast will have a white Christmas for the 1st time since 2002.

Indy got "blessed" with another 3" or snowfall, overnight. It actually turned to some light rain / freezing rain this morning. Treated roads looked good and the non-treated ones were not too bad. The weather folks said that this is the second snowiest start to December - trailing only Dec 1977, which of course was in the same season as the Blizzard of 1978.
Christmas Eve does not look good across the Midwest - and we are travelling, albeit less than 20 miles. ![]()

Fog and a little freezing drizzle going on now, picked up 4 inches of snow last light that needs shoveling,
and to think it's still only December.
The "left" coast is really getting pounded, between the heavy rains, high winds, heavy snow, mudslides, fires, earthquakes they get, I guess the snow and cold we get here isn't so bad.

The NOAA discussion page indicates that the storm track may move a bit further North - so that may may mean heavier snowfall for the I-70 corridor or maybe the icy area may move North too. Regardless it will be messy, somewhere over Christmas Eve.
