Today (Monday) I called to talk to Pip. Her husband answered the phone and told me she is pretty sick and she is in the hospital. From the sound of his voice things are quite serious. He said she has crohns disease, but didn't say anymore. I told him prayers were going up for Pip and also for him. He said thank you.

I wanted this update to be a lot more pleasant, stating that I talked to her and that she is the Pip we all know and love. But that isn't the case right now. Speaking for husband, he appreciates all of our thoughts and prayers.

Thankyou RC for the update. Poor Pip. She's been fighting this battle for quite a while. We'll be thinking of her and praying for her recovery. For anyone who's interested here is basic information from Mayo Clinic regarding Crohn's disease:
Definition
Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It causes inflammation of the lining of your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea and even malnutrition.
The inflammation caused by Crohn's disease often spreads deep into the layers of affected bowel tissue. Like ulcerative colitis, another common IBD, Crohn's disease can be both painful and debilitating and sometimes may lead to life-threatening complications.
While there's no known medical cure for Crohn's disease, therapies can greatly reduce the signs and symptoms of Crohn's disease and even bring about long-term remission. With these therapies, many people with Crohn's disease are able to function well.
I'm sure we all hope and pray for her recovery.

I know Pip has had some health issues for awhile now. Good thoughts and prayers are going out ASAP.
I had a dear friend who lived with Crohns for many years. She had her good days and her bad days but she once said "Oh I never worry when I get a jury summons. I just tell the judge that I have Crohns and when I say I have to ___, I have to ___!" They always dismissed her for 'medical reasons'. ![]()

Thanks for the update, RC. I knew that she had *it*, but hoped that things were getting better for her. ![]()
Let her know we miss her humor here, and best wishes for a recovery.

Never met Pip, but I've heard you regulars talking about her. Had an officer on one of my boats while I was in the Navy had Crohns and he had to be evacuated off the boat during a deployment. Last I heard he was doing better but got a full medical discharge from the Navy.
My prayers go out to Pip and her family.
