Sunday, 5-20-12 a solar eclipse will be total over an area of Western USA from the Pacific NW to the western Texas panhandle area. It will be partial over a large part of the central and western US. HERE
is where you can go for details. The extreme Eastern U.S. will not see it because the sun will set before it starts and folks there are too far outside the area of partial totality.
This is an annular eclipse.....meaning that the moon is at such a distance from earth resulting in not-quite complete coverage of the solar disk. About 94% of the sun will be blotted out by the moon if you are lucky enough to be observing from somewhere in the path of totality.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
