I have a compact APC that was used in the kitchen for the cordless phone. About a year ago, it just keep beeping and wouldn't reset (assume that means it's dead?). Not to mention, lots of power outages here.
When it comes to the basic UPS, is it just cheaper to recycle and buy new? This isn't for a specific device (like UV Voice's BBU).
I have seen a couple of vids online saying you can just drill in and replace the water in the battery cells, but that sounds like a lot of work.
The fact that this one died and is newer than the Cyber-Power one that ATT installed (w/UV), makes me reconsider buying anything more elaborate for the desktop computer.

To close the post, one guy put in a new battery and said it was fine, but price was more than half the price of a new one.
Took home a newer model, but it didn't have the outlets in the right place for all my power bricks, plus too wide to fit on shelf.
Returned the new one, and brought the old one back to recycle. New guy checked it again, and he said it was dead. Think he was right, as it would work sometimes, then get stuck beeping.
Going without for now and just using the surge protector.
Just get a generator.
