I have a compact APC that was used in the kitchen for the cordless phone. About a year ago, it just keep beeping and wouldn't reset (assume that means it's dead?). Not to mention, lots of power outages here.
When it comes to the basic UPS, is it just cheaper to recycle and buy new? This isn't for a specific device (like UV Voice's BBU).
I have seen a couple of vids online saying you can just drill in and replace the water in the battery cells, but that sounds like a lot of work.
The fact that this one died and is newer than the Cyber-Power one that ATT installed (w/UV), makes me reconsider buying anything more elaborate for the desktop computer. ![]()

To close the post, one guy put in a new battery and said it was fine, but price was more than half the price of a new one.
Took home a newer model, but it didn't have the outlets in the right place for all my power bricks, plus too wide to fit on shelf. ![]()
Returned the new one, and brought the old one back to recycle. New guy checked it again, and he said it was dead. Think he was right, as it would work sometimes, then get stuck beeping.
Going without for now and just using the surge protector.

Don't use a surge protector behind the UPS, depending on a variety of conditions, "it could be a Bad Thing."

I seem to recall this discussion a while back, thanks for the reminder.

I went to the hospital in late Oct for a couple weeks, and was diagnosed with Lupus. I was released but went back in in November for another month. I was discharged to rehab because the steroids (for the Lupus treatment) weakened my major muscle groups in the hips, thighs, shoulders, and upper arms (I couldn't stand or walk). I did six weeks in rehab and got out at the end of January.
Since then I've been catching up at work and working out to build strength and get back to "normal." There are some other complications, but I'm working through them as possible.
I'll be working my way back into the forums as I get caught up with everything.
Take care

Bummer Scott, hope you have a long, uneventful remission ahead of you. I got my diagnosis about two years ago after a dermatologist put together all the clues and ordered a genetic test. Mine, knock on wood, is only intent on destroying my skin and cartilage so far. So, it's no soaking up the rays on a sunny day and no running marathons, but I consider myself lucky considering what some others with more advanced SLE have to deal with.

Thanks. So far I'm ahead of the recovery curve, according to the rhumatologist and renal guy.
I also picked up an associated auto-immume disease called antiphospholipid syndrome ... basically a clotting disorder (clots form to easily in arteries as well as veins) ... so I'll be on Coumadin forever too ... kinda sux, I'll get used to it.
A friend bought me a copy of "Lupus" ... an excellent reference by a doc that's had it for decades (50-something years). Amazon has it if you haven't seen it yet. If you can't find it, I'll dig it out and get the ISBN for you.
