I got a phony phone call last night from a company claiming to beV-Fix the online computer repair company.
They said my computer was infecting the internet and they wanted to log on to my machind to fix it.
The BBB says BEWARE! it is a scam.

I've seen the malware that claims your computer is infected, by the time you get that pop up though, you are infected as the message itself is the malware. That malware is also a key logger so you need to get it cleaned as soon as possible. This is the first time I've heard of malware phone calls though.

My 92 year old mom also got a phone call last week from somebody who said her computer has a problem and they need to log into it. She told him she won't let anybody do anything like that except for her son or Microcenter where she bought her computer. The guy wouldn't even say which company he was with when asked.
I told her later not to even let Microcenter log in to her computer if they call. Only time we should let them in is when we call them and go through the proper channels in using ID#'s/passwords. And I had to tell her the obvious where the guy who called before may call back and say he's with MC. ![]()
