I mean to tell you.....We used to have a UPS guy you could set your watch to. If you ordered something he would arrive between 4:30 and 4:45 on the scheduled delivery date. Now we have a new fellow and he shows up as the wind blows. Ya never know!! It's just crazy.
I liked the old guy because if I needed to sign for something I knew if I was home by 4:15pm I was golden. This fellow is still not here and it's 06:38pm CST. Arrrgh

Know what you mean and I'll be sad when our regular UPS driver retires within a year. If my steep/long gravel drive's a mess in the winter he'll even call me on his cell and tell me he's living the package by the gate. He doesn't want to tear up my drive/yard (hard to turn around up here when snowy/muddy) and the package is always left tied in a big plastic bag to keep it dry when it's wet out. No need to sign for if he's the driver and with deliveries to the house he always throws Charlie a dog treat. Funny the last time he threw him one Charlie couldn't find it and it was on his back! LOL, and a quick shake and he had it.
I can definitely tell when the driver is on vacation or a sub is taking his route. There's some ok drivers, but deliveries aren't as fast, and the same friendliness is just not there.
Luckily I have a real good rural USPS carrier too and he like to drive his Jeep type vehicle up here to make deliveries.
Maybe I'm old world but believe good service is worth some appreciation. Reason both the regular UPS and USPS drivers receive a Christmas card with a present/tip every year. ![]()
BTW, FedX is the absolute worst! It's like an easter egg hunt trying to figure out where they left the package. One was on my side porch I never use for a week and didn't even know it. Another was left in my spare Jeep I don't hardly drive. Then there was the one FedX sub who ran his own van into the deep ditch next to my drive and buried it. Now how many drivers try and read their GPS while driving down a steep narrow gravel drive with an 'S-curve' that they've never been on before?? Takes all kinds....
Good move on FedX's part having the USPS make a lot of their deliveries.

My last experience with our UPS driver was this:
Stayed home from work one afternoon to recieve shipment of my new desktop computer. Was sitting in the living room (about 20 feet from the front door, and about 10 feet from the doorbell box) from 2:15 PM (when I opened the front door and made sure there was no box or UPS truck or anything) until 2:45 when my daughter came down stairs and asked what was stuck to the front door's window glass.
"what" was the attempted delivery notice. You see, apparently I was not home. Funny, if he had knocked, I would heard him. If he had rung the doorbell, I would have heard him. (Tested it to be sure it worked I did.) I am suprised I didn't hear the truck. He must have taken his boots off and tiptoed up to the front door and lightly pressed the notice on the doorglass so that he wouldn't have to carry the 40 pound, somewhat-bulky box the 50 feet from the street to my house.

At least you received your package. About 4 months ago my wife ordered some "stuff" from Macy's. After about 2 weeks she called Macy's because she did not received said "stuff". Macy's tracked the order and showed it delivered. Oh boy was that the start of a night mare.
Macy's said they could do nothing and to call UPS. She called UPS and you can guess what they said. It was delivered and to call Macy's. Finally a case was opened with UPS and the driver responded that he left the package in the planter by our front door. Well we don't have a planter at our front door so I'm out rummaging thru the bushes in our yard but to no avail.
I ended up calling UPS myself and telling them we don't have a planter at our front door so that should tell them it was delivered to the wrong location. They sent the driver to our house and he insisted he left it in a planter and basically called me a lier. I asked him to leave and I would address it with UPS directly.
Finally after about a month of back and forth dialog with UPS and Macy's she was re-sent her order. UPS still claimed it was delivered so I don't know who ate the cost for resending the product.
Now I have a camera at the front door and one that covers my driveway and cul-de-sac and both record to a DVR so they are not going to be able to pull this again.

I use online tracking for UPS and FedEx (USPS tracking is a joke), and they are usually spot-on. But lately since they've both been handing off the last leg to USPS, all I see is Out for Delivery!
Our postal workers are great and normally brings packages to the door (won't fit in rural mailbox at the street). And always make sure to give him/her a box of cookies around the holidays. ![]()
I think UPS and FedEx just assume people aren't home during the day. I found a package the other day WITH a delivery notice tacked to the door. ????
I'd like to set up cameras here!

We've never had a problem with either UPS or FED-X. When my wife's iPad 3 was delivered promptly on the 16th of this month.....exactly when it was supposed to arrive. The driver showed up at mid-morning and boy, was he in a hurry. Of course, I had to sign for it. But we knew that in advance. He told me that he had a truck full of these iPads to get delivered on THAT day. 5 days from China to our front door. Not too bad.

I remember a couple years ago purchasing a 100lb, $300, 12,000 BTU, Kenmore window AC unit from Sears online. It was delivered by USP and the box was half-torn open and looked like it had been run over by a truck. The UPS driver made note of it which he's really good about doing. He said I should never have UPS ship anything like a heavy AC unit which is half-fragile. Sure enough the front control cover was broke/smashed and the large 3-prong plug was shoved right through the back fins cutting the coils in half.
Took the box of junk to the nearest Sears store who had one in stock 20 miles away and exchanged it for a new one. Whole point in having it delivered was avoiding lifting something so heavy. Had to put boards on the back of my Jeep and slide it down on a dolly w/wheels.
As far as the local small town post offices here their hours are worse than bankers hours! How many businesses close completely down for lunch between noon-1pm anymore? And how many people can get to their local PO if they have to work and the PO closes for business at 4pm? Not very customer friendly at all!

Well, I can't give the same kudos to our physical P.O., LOL! I avoid it like the plague and for over 30 yrs. have gone to a mailing place where I pay a small surcharge, but it's worth it! That's for their time of waiting in line at the P.O. for stamps!
Nice, married couple and they know me by name. I love working with small businesses when I can find them.
Our P.O. is in the subdivision, but they have about 6 clerk areas, but only 2-3 are ever filled! They go to the back to get a package, and can be gone 15 min.! Actually fear someone going postal, and why I don't even like being in there! They have these 2-way mirror inserts in the highest part of the back wall/ceiling, with what looks like an armored truck, huge rivets and all. A small crack at the bottom where a gun could stick through, makes me wonder what it is exactly!
But, I feel bad for all these people who will lose their jobs if they close down the P.O.'s. Our local original hardware store has always had a country-type P.O. in the back, and that's where we went when we first moved out here (and before our P.O. was built).

Here's a doozy of a different type. I get my refrigerated Humira from Aetna Specialty Pharmacy, it's sent w/cold packs that will last at least 2 days after being sent from CVS Caremark in PA. Since I'm up til 3-4am or later from work, it's sent to the local FedEx store as I'm not up for 10-10:30am delivery to my apartment (no door bell).
Recently twice, even though it says send by FedEx on my account, they have sent the delivery by UPS. So, it's been refused at the FedEx store as they won't accept FedEx deliveries.
First time, the UPS driver doubled back to the local UPS store and delivered it abt 4pm as arranged w/Aetna Special Pharmacy and picked it up the next day.
Second time, the UPS driver knew it would be refused and just delivered it to the UPS store; although I didn't find out til just before time to go to work and couldn't pick it up till the next day. Funny thing Aetna didn't know where the delivery went (
) , so finally called the local UPS store and found it.
Reason they go to FedEx store stead of UPS store, UPS charges $5 delivery charge and FedEx is free, so it's just the skinflint in me to keep using FedEx. Early 2011, Aetna Specialty Pharmacy switched to FedEx from UPS delivery, but unknown to me switched back again late fall 2011 (unknown to be until first goof-up). The 2 missent deliveries were after that occured. ![]()

I know where my parents live(Southcross Ranch area for those in SA) always have more of a problem with UPS than with FedEx. The local FedEx station is off Brussels in East San Antonio and the UPS sort station is off FM 78. I know if I tried to get UPS second day, it would get lost. Never a problem on FedEx second day. I haven't done much online buying since I moved to the Houston area, but it seems I won't have. I'd hate of those people where packages get delivered to the door step and get stolen later, Seems like problem here in Houston at Christmas time. Maybe, it's a good reason to live in apartment.
