Here it is Friday again and hoping everybody has a great weekend.
Wishing the best for those who may be affected by Hurricane Irene. It was downgraded from a category 3 storm to category 2 but is still packing 110 mph winds.

Definitely hoping for the best with Hurricane Irene for those on the east coast. Ike was certainly no fun down here in 2008.
I think my company may have set some sort of record today. Until now, we still used a receptionist to handle incoming customer service calls. Our existing receptionist left for a better job about 4 months ago and we've been rotating the receptionist duty amongst some of the other staff. With the economy like it is, the powers that be finally made the decision to implement a phone menu (auto attendant) to handle incoming calls, making us officially the last company on the planet to do so.

It was up to my department (IT) to implement it this week, and I just took it live this morning. We'll see how things go. I thought it was an awesome idea, but you should have seen the dirty looks from some of the staff in the staff meeting ... some people were not happy. ![]()
Oh well, they'll just have to deal with it.

I've been meaning to comment that I love your new "live" quotes sig, SomeJoe. But I clicked on the play button for the quote that was just showing ("You had me at hello" from Jerry MacGuire) and I was treated to the leader for General Cinemas Corporation (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about)... but not the film clip itself.
What's up?

Hehe ... thanks for the compliment.
I worked on that last weekend to add a little spice to the sig.
I have about 110 quotes in the database, about 90 of them have the movie clip.
The remaining ones that don't have the clip are missing it because:
• It's not a movie I own on DVD or Blu-Ray, so there's no way I can get the footage.
• The clip contains a violent, profane, or otherwise inappropriate scene to be shown in the forum.
For those quotes, the clip is replaced by the old General Cinema Corporation "Feature Presentation" bumper.
For Jerry Maguire, that is a DVD I don't own, so I don't have the clip. I may rectify that soon though, it's one I've been meaning to get. ![]()

All is quiet here east of K.C. MO. But we are busy worrying about our oldest granddaughter who lives in CT within sight of Long Island Sound.... right smack-dab in the path of Irene. I'm relieved to hear that she has weakened somewhat. Our son and his wife have been trying to get hold of her by phone but she has not called back. The school where she works is back in full swing and we know she is busy. When they are that young they just do not comprehend how parents and grandparents worry about them. Of course she will.....after some years go by and she has offspring to worry about.
Our son and wife finally got their U-verse service installed and up and running in their new home in N. Illinois. I posted a follow-up on that elsewhere.
I hope y'all have a great weekend.

When I was young....catching a head cold was a relatively minor affliction. Now that I'm old and senile....geez I feel miserable....cough, cough.....sneeze, sneeze.....running a fever....
On top of that I spent 4 hours at the cardiologist's office yesterday taking a stress test and a nuclear scan. Then today it was off to the family doctor to see what he could do for my cold. I can't afford to have it get into my lungs. I've had pneumonia 4 times in my life and my lungs won't do well with another infection. Tomorrow back to the cardiologist's office for the follow up to the stress test and nuclear scan. They inject a radioactive isotope into the circulation system. It has a half life of 6 or 7 hours. It makes the arteries glow on the scanner's computer screen. Matches my glowing personality.
I'm looking forward to feeling better and a good report. In November it will be 20 years since my triple bypass surgery....and I'm still around to annoy everyone.
But add all this up...along with the severe cold and I guess that's my excuse for feeling generally lousy.

I always though you had a glowing personality, Phil.

Well, S.J., at least a noisy one, if not glowing.
Had follow-up appointment with the cardiologist today after my eco-electrocardogram (or what ever they call it). Got a "glowing" report.
Heart and the valves are in excellent condition. He was happy....I am happy....my wife is happy....Alfie is happy....![]()
