I was shopping online for a 2012 Newfoundland calendar for my wife and found this bumper sticker she would probably like.
We're home. Left Honolulu Saturday evening. 7 hours later arrived Dallas/Ft. Worth. Got to Wichita, Kansas Sunday morning at 10:55. My wife's relative picked us up and we headed for Newton, KS and my reunion with Alfie which was emotional. He came running and grabbed my hand in his mouth and wouldn't let go. Then he followed me around for the rest of the day. Guess he still loves me.
Saturday morning we visited Pearl Harbor:
The Arizona Memorial is a treat but very difficult....at least for me....because even though I was only 5 years old when Japan attacked Pearl, I absolutely can remember exactly where I was and what my father & mother and I were doing when the network broke into the N.Y. Philharmonic Sunday afternoon concert on CBS radio and gave the report on the attack. It's a very vivid memory. Normally they do not allow cell phone calls to be placed from the memorial. But the guards let me call my very close friend in Texas who retired from the U.S. Army as a full colonel after 28 years of service. He served in Vietnam and two tours in South Korea. It was him and his parents who were visiting my parents and myself in Newton that weekend. A few months later his dad enlisted and served as an army doctor, stationed on Adak Island in the Aleutians. My pop tried to enlist but they turned him down because of his very high blood pressure. I wanted to talk to my friend from the Arizona Memorial....which he has not had an opportunity to visit as yet.
I shot this image as we were returning to the small ferry that runs between the memorial and the pier near the museum.
Tied to its own pier a few hundred feet away is the Mighty Mo. The USS Missouri. It was on her deck that the Japanese signed the documents of surrender. We didn't physically visit her. We've been on several other battleships. But with my telephoto zoom I was able to get some pretty good images of her. Here is one of them:
The originals of these images are sharper but scrunching them down to get under the 330 Kb size really hurts the quality.
All together I shot just under 500 pictures.....all in RAW format so it'll take me a while to sort and manipulate the ones I want to print.
We had a good trip. 9 hours from D/FW to Honolulu. Tail winds cut two hours off that coming back. Let me tell you that 9 hours in the seats they use in coach is an ugly experience. We both collapsed into bed at the hotel that first night...nearly sick with fatigue and body pains. Why oh why do we put ourselves through that? In my opinion an airplane is nothing more than a torture chamber with wings. Fortunately we recovered and enjoyed the cruise around the islands.
What's been happening in my absence? Everyone behaving? Our welcome home was the news that a big winter storm is moving into the middle U.S. Might get snow here unless it stays west of us.
Glad you made it back safely, and the gift of Alfie waiting is more than anyone could ask for.

Welcome back, Phil. Do you post your photos on a sharing site like Flickr or Photobucket? Would love to see a few, without tying up the forum. Heartwarming to hear of your reunion with Alfie. When we go out of town (vacation or roller derby), we board Gizmo at "PetSuites" and I call the staff everyday and ask how my "son" is doing. 
Spd - I did not buy anything on Free shipping Friday. I only ordered twice, via mail, this season. One has arrived and the other has not. 
Thanks for the photos Phil. Touring Pearl Harbor really hit me hard too. We also took the "Big Mo" tour and what a ship! Yeah, know what you mean about losing detail when compressing photos to meet the 333K guidelines.
Bummer americangame and I've tended to have many shopping experiences like that.
Here's a pretty funny video of a monkey riding a dog at the Denver Broncos half-time show. Believe the dog is a Border Collie and I would like to think the monkey is having fun.

No. An eBay type purchase from Italy. It is odd starting an email with "Hi Fabio." Seriously.
Then, it probably will take a while to get here, Christmas mail all over the world.
I got a bellyfull of BB tonight! Ordered an Apple TV for the kid, got in the Online Order line, then 4 people ahead of me were returning stuff! Clerk just took them and did nothing--should have sent them to the other line for Returns. I did tell her what I thought and then spoke with the manager. Sure they'll do nothing, but I just had to vent before my head exploded.
If I wanted to wait in line, I'd have just picked one up in the store and gone to the regular checkout! First time I've ever had a problem like this for an online order. Bah, humbug!!
I've bought probably 20 items through Amazon in the past month and everything arrived usually ahead of time and in great shape.
I placed 1 online order through Best Buy and it took twice as long as supposed to. Plus this small electronic device came in a big box with not enough packing. Hope it works since it was just banging around in the large box and wasn't happy at all with BB!
I can see why the USPS may be having financial problems since email has taken over. But they sure bring a lot of orders through FedX and maybe UPS. I would think they may be making some good money in doing this.
