I don't know what I'm doing up so late. But guess I'll get this WOTT started. Everyone have a great weekend and....as my pop used to say....don't take any wooden nickels.
Guess I'll go move Alfie over and crawl into bed. Mowed the yard. I hurt everywhere. Wish I could figure out how to evict old Arthur Itis.
G'night.

Gee, 4-20 has some weird meanings and only comes once per year. It was also my best friend's B-day, who passed, along with Hitler's BD. As if that means **** to a tree.
Beautiful day and will almost hit 80 before the rains/cold front rolls in tonight.

Off to the "Hills" of Michigan (Auburn and Rochester, lol) for Busta Kap's Junior Roller Derby bout, tomorrow. Announcing, too.
We are staying a stone's throw from the Silverdome. The bout is at a skating facility in Rochester Hills. The Hotel asked us if we were playing at the Silverdome. Uh....no.

Fascinating. Yep...I'd love to have a wand. Great fun. Then I looked up the exchange rate and it works out (if I figured things correctly) to about $80 USD. Guess I'll stick with my old remote.

Only $69.95 w/free shipping on Newegg.

The "Wand" is the same price at Amazon w/free shipping. Ya know, in looking at that thing it really needs a leather whip on the end to whip the STB/DVR into submission when they aren't working. LOL.

Besides, if it was a whip maybe it would help Spd cast his spells. ![]()

I suppose saying I'm well overdue for a check in on these parts of the vast internet space is an understatement! I am actually kind of surprised to come back here after so long and see so many familiar people still going strong in the U-verse community!
I guess the big question I have for all of you who've been here since we helped start U-talk, or everyone that has since joined that I unfortunately don't know, is how have y'all been since I've last been around here? I can't even remember when I was last here or what was happening at the time but I guess it says my last post was in May of 2010 so it certainly has been awhile, and boy has a lot happened in that time! For those of you who are 'new' around here (relative to the start of U-talk) I used to be super active here and on UU helping out with anything and everything U-verse while I was finishing out highschool and starting college. In 2008 we moved from Houston, TX up to Powell, WY and I have since been going to school up here at Montana Tech in Butte, MT. I honestly don't know if I would know much about the current state of U-verse anymore, I hope things have changed for the better over time. We still make yearly trips to Houston during the summer but that's about all the exposure I get with U-verse as the family that we stay with while we are there has U-verse.
I guess the first major piece of news that I have is that I will be closing on my first house up here in Wyoming on May 18th and I couldn't be more excited. It was actually a spec home that I caught just after they had the frame up and the outside finished off so I got to pick a lot of things on the inside like paint color, flooring, appliances, etc. I graduate from Montana Tech this semester, can't wait to finally be done with college (for now). I'm contemplating going for my Master's at some point but for now I want to be done with school for awhile - though those of us in the IT field know you can never truly get away from learning.
At work I was promoted from helpdesk technician to network technician / central office technician around the beginning of last year and I love where I'm at. We've got several large projects on the table right now that I'm a part of as well as a few commissioning teams for some new hardware we're getting installed. I work with businesses a lot more now which is a relief to talk to IT staff at a company and feel like I'm appreciated a lot more when I talk to them vs. a customer yelling in my ear (actually I quite enjoyed helpdesk, too, but I like where I am now better). We've purchased some DOCSIS cable markets in some areas so I've been helping out with those acquisitions and migrating those networks into our own network, up until that point we only dealt with wireless (Moto Canopy), ADSL/2+, VDSL/2+, and FTTH/GPON so that was certainly a fun ride beefing up on DOCSIS, too.
I miss my family here on U-talk and on UU, though I honestly checked here first and haven't been to UU yet. I know some of you have sent me emails and I regret that I haven't been able to reply to some of them (more than likely I forgot then remembered several months down the road at which point the topic had passed) - I am sorry to those I haven't been keeping in touch with.
I know some of us here are (or were) on DSLReports, too, and I have been more active there with my OOL issues since Bresnan was bought out by Optimum to create a subsidiary company called Optimum West. I honestly cannot wait to get off of cable and back to the world of fiber-to-the-home. While Optimum did upgrade our market to DOCSIS 3.0 with four bonded DS channels all that did was move the bottleneck further upstream. A few days ago I was only getting 0.31Mb/s (yes, less than half a megabit) down out of the 30Mb/s I pay for...Ugh...Anyway, since DSLR is down for the count after their datacenter took what sounds like a decent power hit I thought I would check back in here to see how everyone has been or if there has been any major news since I've left with U-verse or otherwise...I don't like to call it left, though...Extended leave of absence, perhaps? ![]()
I know there's a lot more I could ramble on about but I can't think of much more at the moment - plus I already have a decent book written as it is ![]()

Good to hear from you KK. Congrats on the new home and the degree. Things have changed a lot with Uverse and this forum, but we keep moving forward. Don't be so much of a stranger now that you are done with school for the time being. I am sure it won't take you very long to get caught up and up to speed with things that are going on around here. Thanks for stopping by and checking on us.

Well blow me down.....the kid is back! Good to hear from you again, KK. Yeah....still a few of us old timers around, fighting off the barbarians at the doors.
Congratulations on the degree, the house & the adancement at work. My advice....don't wait too long to go for the masters degree. After too much time goes by...other things happen in your life and get in the way. So take a small break and then go for it before you lose momentum.
Yep, there have been changes around here. But perhaps the one that would interest you most is that, with such tremendous growth in all of the U-verse subscribers to all of the services the questions and problems seem to have gotten quite a bit more technical.
We have a grandson just about to finish his degree at U. of WY in Laramie. He also is relieved to see that light at the end of the tunnel. Don't stay away so long next time, KK.

Welcome back, KK. I remember you from UU, first, where I first visited six months before getting U-Verse.
We had an okay trip to the greater Detroit area for Roller Derby. It was entertaining and I got to help their announcer out, too. My granddaughter's team won - that was good. You can't have roller derby without some drama - their coach would not shake our coach's hand.
Granddaughter got riled up late in the game. On the whistle, one of the gir;s on the other team smashed her in the face with an elbow. Kayla had steam coming out of her ears and when she caught back up to the girl, the girl started laughing because she knew what was coming next. Kayla knocked her (with a legal hit), into next week. The girl was still laughing when she got up. That was funny.
How do you Michiganders deal with those "Michigan Lefts" and flashing left turn lights?

Never lived in MI, but it's weird that the wiki uses for an example an intersection I've driven through at least 100 times. I built equipment for Weyburn Bartel and Lakeshore Automatic (We've got your brass coverd) in Grand Haven, and made many a trip from my home in the NW subs of Chitown over there for installation and integration with the rest of production line. Ran it them in Ypsilanti and Detroit as well, doing work in the GM plants.
They have a similar setup in LA on the surface streets (boulevards) only they aren't as graceful and you have people doing "Crazy Ivans" in front of you all the time to do their u-turn.
