Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Humidity level is finally dropping. Temp's at 71, high for today, 73. Nice breeze blowing in here too. Was glad to turn off the AC earlier this evening.
Dennis, got plenty of 2 BR's available here and you can bring the cats too, of course, there is winter with the snow and cold to put up with, but at least you wouldnt have to actually shovel it. ![]()

Patient Restraint Use Drops Dramatically at DeBakey VA
HOUSTON - Since the introduction of the VA’s Patient Restraint Policy in 2001, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) has made significant progress in minimizing the use of patient restraints by its staff. A restraint can be defined as any device that restricts freedom of movement or normal access to one’s body. This achievement is yet another example of VA’s commitment to provide the best health care possible for our veterans.
MEDVAMC’s success of moving toward a restraint-free environment was born out of a system-wide culture change. Across the facility, nursing units have taken ownership of the change and created champions to ensure the highest level of patient safety with a minimal use of restraints. Nurses and doctors have collaborated to create a fundamental shift in the way restraints are used at MEDVAMC.
“In the past, restraints were commonly used if a patient was intubated,” said Monike Harvey, R.N., Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) nurse manager. “With education, we were able to change the way staff looks at restraint use.” The culture change of the entire clinical team has made the difference in reducing restraint usage by more than 75 percent.
Nurses now make an assessment of need before any restraint is applied to a patient. In the MICU, the total number of hours patients are restrained has fallen from approximately 1,300 hours per month in 2006 to an astonishing 11 hours this past June.

Oh, woe is me! The new "DVR-only" policy causes another loss.
Wife's sister and husband were both convinced by me to switch from Comcast to UV which just became available in their neighborhood. Problem? They have 4 TV sets around the house, other than their big screen HD in the livingroom. With Comcast they don't use a box on those other 4 sets.....just hook directly to the cable and settle for what they get. But with UV...without an STB....they are out of luck. So they would be looking at $240 extra per year for the additional STB's. They have elected to stay with Comcast.....despite my efforts and the sacrifice in numbers of HD channels.
I wonder how many new-connects AT&T is losing because they stopped furnishing those two other STB's with each new order.
Well.....I tried.![]()

All of the Wal-Mart stores across Alabama sold out of ammunition as of yesterday.
A reliable source said that one of the red-neck purchasers commented that while Russia may have invaded Georgia, they sure as hell ain't doin' it to Alabama.

I think it is...it's been a pain in the butt because management couldn't make up their mind early on about what NIC vendor we were going to use...but Dell just released a new blade today that they are all excited about, except ours has the same memory footprint, and more performance from the CPU and NIC and ours is only a half height blade as opposed to Dell's Full height
More stuff in half the space...that's always a good thing!

That's the product line I work with, you can see the difference in a half height and a full height just from the pictures on that page.

At this point, NOLA looks to be on the wrong side of the storm as it comes in depending on how large it grows.

Hey, hoggy, good to see you make an appearance.
How expensive are these mega-DIMMs?
hogrunr wrote:
I know, I work on these systems everyday and sometimes I just stop and think, I have 2GB of RAM in my desktop and I just loaded my system full to 128GB of RAM! That's crazy! The one listed there that hold the 128GB are full height with 4 quad core processors in them. The system we are about to launch is the half height size with 2 processors, but it is also capable of handling 128GB of RAMIt's crazy to sit there and hold an 8GB DIMM in my hand and think, this one DIMM has 4 times the RAM that my desktop does !
