Just a reply to Show from the last off topic thread...yes actually the models are all starting to shift the track of Gustav to the west right as it gets to the coast from that High Pressure that is moving down...now the question is all about timing...will it turn before it hits land, or after it makes landfall? And the storm has grown dramatically in size which will help it strengthen rapidly.

Well, the high that they're expecting must not be as strong as initially thought as the forecast track for landfall has moved back to the east and the hook to the west afterwards is now missing.
Good news for Houston, really bad news for NOLA.

What plunge, SP3?

Blondes
On the first day of training for parachute jumping, a blonde listened intently to the instructor. He told them to start preparing for landing when they are at 300 feet.
The blonde asked, "How am I supposed to know when I'm at 300 feet?"
"That's a good question. When you get to 300 feet, you can recognize the faces of people on the ground."
After pondering his answer, she asked, "What happens if there's no one there I know?"

Yes. I got the popup saying updates are ready to be downloaded and installed on your computer. I clicked on it and it was sp3 for xp. I installed it this morning and as of 2:21pm dst. everything is wokring just fine.

Well, I'm still too hinky about taking it yet and I have something else I need to deal with right now, so if something went wrong, I wouldn't have a computer and I wouldn't be able to deal with it, so I am going to let sleeping service packs lie for now. ![]()
Besides, I still don't trust it, specially since I do have an AMD processor.

I have updates shut completely off.
I just go in sometime during the second week of the month and take them on my own at that time. First thing I always see if about SP3 and the first thing I always do is ignore it. ![]()

Pip Looked up SP3 in WindowsSecrets in the paid version Susan Bradley MVP said SP3 was basicly a collection of past updates. She said she had not had any problems with any of her loads but there was no hurry to load it. IE6 and WMP10 came with the load not IE& and wmp 11. The advantage she saw was someone loading a new machine can load SP3 instead of all updates since SP2. You may already have everything in SP3 already on your machine. No hurry.
Basically, I heard the same thing, so I really wasn't in any hurry to do that. Figured in maybe a years time, MS will have finally fixed it all and I can then DL that and wait for SP4! ![]()
Thanks again. ![]()

I went all out with the inherited desktop, put SP3 on last week AND IE7! So far, it's working, but IE7 crashes just like IE6 on the lappy. Then I have to use Safari because FF won't work when IE goes down.
And the lappy is closer to going through a wall! After over 2 hours on the phone with you-know-who, and back and forth to 4 reps, hung up on me twice...they finally sent a new power supply and it DID NOT FIX the problem.! Aarrrrrgggghhhhhh! Son says I should just get a new one, but I've still got a year warranty and they're gonna fix it or else!

I think it's the mobo (refurbished
replacement). Or the power supply...but what do I know? They just want to send the machine to India where it will get swallowed up in Gustav or Hanna or a monsoon!

Wonder what's in that cup, coffee or tea. If it's coffee, I guess Tonka and his passion for coffee just wasn't all that unusual! ![]()
On the other hand, I should read the link about what to do with a demanding cat. Lucky is driving us nuts today!!
I was sleeping before, lying on my right side, and the next I know, I can feel a paw, pawing at my backside to wake up! So I throw my left hand down so she can rub against it, which she did for a few minutes.
Was that enough for her? Nope!!!
I could feel her walking around on the bed and the next thing I feel is 18 pounds of cat walking on my left leg, which was stretched straight out!!!
I let out a yell and she got off, but she was sitting there just staring at me, figuring out her next move, so I just got up and went into the living room, where she proceded to just sit and stare at my husband. Why she didn't just jump up on him and perch on his chest is beyond me. She used to do that all the time. Guess she doesn't care for the new recliner. ![]()
Both cats get plenty of attention from us, but with Lucky, we have to be careful cuz if you ignore her for too long, she gets schizoid and she will start nipping at you to get attention and those nips usually manage to draw blood. In fact, even in the middle of a loving session, she will do that to my hubby. I quit before it reaches that point. Can't afford another dose of cat scratch fever. Once was enough!!!
I've always though Lucky's elevator never quite went all the way to the top anyway. ![]()

That was my first thought, she was trying to tell you something was wrong with hubby?
King Pizzer, Frank, cornered Sam coming out of the laundry room...scared the pee out of her. No reason except he picks on her, before it was her sister (Sabrina, who died). I know Frank's is stress since Clovis reached kitty puberty and is younger than Frank; it's neutered tomcat dominance! Frank's best friend died a while back, and that has turned him down this path. We have a homeopathic drop med that he gets and it REALLY calms him down. But that's depending if I want to donate blood on any particular day. ![]()
