Friday has arrived again.
Share something funny or sad. Something life changing or just a passing thought.
May you get your wish for the week but just be careful what you wish for.

RAIN!!! Looks like tropical storm Don is going south of San Antonio now according to the latest forecast. We can't win.
We need rain so bad!! Yards dead, foundations cracking, critters in sub divisions looking for water, you name it.

Yeah -- I'll second that one, BB! Yesterday was my one watering day of the week -- my yard still looks like crap! 'Course, I don't have to mow it if it's not growing!

Yup Ed. The smartest thing I did 2 years ago was get a sprinkler system installed due to the one day a week watering schedule. My day is Tuesday so it comes on at 3am Tuesday morning and does all zones by 8am. Then I just water the front from 8pm to 10pm on Tuesday evening. Yard stays looking pretty good but the water bill doesn't. Still have to mow weekly too!!

We got some short downpours, and still dry. You get a letter from the HOA here if you don't keep your yard up. See they are slacking off though with the drought, or people just aren't obeying. I water with a sprinkler system, too, and am living with the high water bill to save the trees. ![]()
My last visit to the eye doc revealed that my vision is back to 20/20 and I don't need my glasses. Still can't see up close w/o help.
He said it happens, and just enjoy it. Tech who was doing the tests is my age and same thing happened to her. Now, hope I don't get stopped by a cop since I have a restriction on my license, though I keep the glasses on the dash.

The rolling blackouts have reached my neighborhood as of 11:30pm dst last night. Went to my parents and we slept on couches until awakened by the thunderstorms. Between storms came home at 4am and within 5 minutes power came back on.
Hopefully the blackout has rolled into another neighborhood.

Is that because of the hot temps?

Yes, I think so. Even though the temps aren't as high as they are down there it is hot for Detroit. I like it, but it seems like I am a part of an ever shrinking minority.

If you had lots of humidity like here, might be difficult, day after day.
I just noticed we are in the Off-opic thread.
I did something like that on WOTT once.

Duh, maybe like last week?? ![]()
We all thought you had permanently changed the thread title and believe SKP was just following your lead. ![]()
Who cares and we all know what it means.
Just finished mowing the 6" high grass I've neglected for a while. I waited until 7 pm since it was only 87 then. Gave myself just enough time to get finish before dark. But seemed like it was getting a little darker earlier tonight. Was clear down by the end of my drive and got caught in one heck of a driving rain/thunder storm. Got soaked and probably not too safe driving my lawn tractor wide open in 6th gear on a gravel drive when I could barely see. ![]()

LOL! I did not even see that one! (have requested a correction) It was another one and we'd been using it all week before someone caught it, Funny how we often don't see our own misspellings, but notice those of other people?
Not criticizing, just an observation...agree we all know what it is!
Cannot believe y'all are still getting rain! Don's rain is pretty much bypassing us. News reports were showing how this is the 1st time people have WANTED a TS just for the rain!

Agree, it's hard to see our own misspellings and I've made many. I've also had my wife point out some of the words I say there is no such thing. LOL.
Wow, too bad you guys are missing the rain. I thought when I saw on Don's tracking it was going to the west towards the Mexico border. I'm sure the way the Gulf must be heating up there will be more chances but let's just hope it doesn't come with strong winds too.

This prayer has gotten quite a bit of attention nationally. It was at the Nationwide race in Nashville. The prayer itself was pretty funny, now it's even better. Enjoy.

Good catch Uni the reason it is the same was I copied it from last week. Brain cells and eyes are not functioning at that time of the morning.
It has been a frustrating weekend by computer is trying to die. I finally bought a HP laptop so I am trying to get it setup. I am getting a HID.DLL error and when I try to do almost anything the computer restarts.

That would be a Human Interface Device, like a mouse or keyboard, but you have a laptop. Did you have an external mouse plugged into the laptop at one time?

Wonderful!!!! We got 1.1 inches of rain last night. Not enough....but any is better than none. I could almost hear my tomato plants sucking it up.
I can't remember if I have mentioned my new acquisition or not. Went over to Staples Office Supply to pick up some ink for the HP PhotoSmart printer. Stacked in the front part of the store were a bunch of HP bundles.....PC/monitor/keyboard/mouse/loudspeakers
So I retired the old HP. Took it to Tyler, TX with me and, after robbing some memory sticks from my friends old PC, we put the new Frankenstein into service for him to run his flight simulator apps. on. He had to purchase a new graphics card and a new power supply to handle the extra load. He's happy. I'm happy....well....almost happy.
Got one problem. No matter what I do I can't get the new PC to bring up the BIOS set-up screen. I've followed the instructions to the letter.....communicated with HP.....and tried every "function key" on the keyboard. But everything fails and the darn thing goes ahead and boots to Win 7. Crazy. Not a problem right now. But sooner or later I'll need access to that set-up screen. I'm currently waiting for my second communication from HP support. Everything else works great.
Well....excuse? Just wanted to help the economy......That one didn't go over with my wife very well.
Went to get car serviced....oil and filter. I met another old fellow in the waiting area. He has UV for TV and broadband. He got a new remote. Said he followed instructions to set it up for his TV. But now he's got no audio volume and words on his screen run off the side of the frame. Well....I tried. Honestly I did. But trying to tell him how to code his remote back to the STB and then raise the volume setting was more than he could handle. He kept asking me where he would find the volume knob. Just couldn't get it through his head that he would have to use the remote. So I just gave up. Car was ready anyway so I escaped.
Elliott is a bulldog living in Texas.....and it's VERY HOT! So when beloved master and mistress dumped left-over ice from their cooler on the driveway.....well Elliott got creative:
Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Suddenly realized that I should have mentioned the photo of the bulldog on ice....is not mine. It came to me in an e-mail from a friend. But it's a great photo and thought you folks might enjoy it. Supposedly NOT posed. The pooch just walked over and sprawled on the ice on his own.

Whenever we travel to Texas to visit friends in Tyler, we enjoy watching the wide variety of birds and other interlopers who are attracted to the bird feeder they have installed. In this case it was an immature Cardinal.
Others had their eye on this store of food. This guy would do a real circus aerial act to reach his goal:
All the activity is visible through the big picture window in their dining room. There were other birds including adult Cardinals in full color.....Blue birds.....and others. Also Humming Birds chowing down at a nearby feeder designed for them. I should have spent longer observing and shooting pictures. But we were busy with other tasks.

Nice critter photos, Phil. That's what I like about our part of TX, even more year-round wildlife; just relaxing to watch.

Took off for Akron, Ohio Friday at lunch time and returned to Indy Saturday evening. Went with my (adult) daughter and grand daughter. Kayla, my grandbaby, plays Junior Roller Derby. I went up there also to help announce the games. Had a BLAST! My wife and son-in-law stayed home - he is my co-announcer for home games.
The derby matches on Saturday were like all-star games as skaters from all over the midwest met there to play with each other. The scrimmages were not based on teams so she got to play with and against her own teammates and other teams skaters.
Here is a phot of me annoucing with "Cranky Pants, Junior," a 13 year old announcer from Toronto. My "announcer name" is Diamond Dave.

Sounds like fun...I didn't know they still had Roller Derby. Figured it was too violent for the delicate society of today. Good to hear it's alive and well.

Thanks for the pics Phil and Diamond Dave!
Ohio University ranked top party school in the US.

Athens is only about 50 SE of me and what a party school; especially their Halloween street party which draws 20,000 people. My son went there for a very short time and probably a good thing he transferred somewhere else.
I saw Led Zeppelin at Ohio U. in 1969 and what a concert!
