I actually saw that happen live! Only reason I was watching is because it cut into my regular programming recording.
Was this the race that was delayed yesterday because of rain?

Sorry, but your show will be on next week while the Daytona 500 won't! LOL.
Yeah, delayed yesterday because of pouring rain and scheduled today for noon today. More rain so delayed to 7pm and went off at about 7:30-7:40pm.
Sure was a long one with so many wrecks and the fire. Just ended at 1am with Matt Kenseth the winner, Dale Earnhardt Jr 2nd and Greg Biffle 3rd. Good one but wish Jr. could have got some help up front to win it.
It's easy to judge in retrospect but maybe next year they'll have one of those big foaming firetrucks on hand, like they use at airports, for putting jet fuel (kero) out quicker. But who would have thought a car would crash into a jet blower truck carrying 200 gals of jet fuel and set it on fire??

I've been watching NASCAR for plenty of years, starting back when CBS showed the 1st Daytona 500 live and like they said last night, just when you thought you've seen everything, someone wrecks into the jet dryers. I figured Jr. would push Biffle around Kenseth, but when he didn't make a move, Jr. had to go and just did get around Biffle. Hamlin was just too far back to help Jr. so he has to settle for 2nd. Still has a long winless streak going, but I think he breaks it this year.
I know it's only the first race, but this is the farthest back Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon have started a season in points.

I also agree with the "seeing it all" part, in racing. That I hadn't seen. Wrong place / wrong time. Do you remember a race at Charlotte about 15 years ago, when a water main for the backstretch restrooms broke and flooded the track? That was bizare but easier to deal with.
Did you hear Darrell Waltrip snub Mike Joy, when Mike asked ol' DW about a wreck, years ago @ Richmond, with Ken Schrader? They quickly went to commerial. ![]()
Many years ago Tony Stewart got in a wreck at Dover. About 10 seconds later, a clueless Elliot Sadler comes in and rams him, under caution. Stewart said that "Sadler has no business in Cup.' I just figured that was Tony foregtting to filter his mouth. Now, I see his point. There is a reason that Elliot Sadler is not in cup, full time. Stay out!

Bummer for me, Juan Pablo's right turn into the jet dryer used up too much of my 5 hours scheduled on the DVR to see any more racing after that. ![]()
Visited Nascar.com just now after waking up to find Kenseth had won. He did have about the strongest car all night even though he had the spouting fit early in the race.
Hey OU, it was the crashfest I thought it would be as I watched race rewind to see what happened after Juan Pablo's wild ride. ![]()

Yeah Chris, it was a crashfest, but for the most part the drivers enjoyed it. Except for the wreck on the 2nd lap, that was just plain stupid racing that hard that soon. The cars had barely gotten up to speed and that happens. Monday's Daytona 500 was the 2nd most watched Daytona 500 EVER.

I actually follow Elliot Sader on twitter and there were no posts until late in the afternoon on Tuesday. He knows that his name is mud, lol.

Chris: As a rule of thumb, I always add 3 hours to the cup race and 2 to the Nationwide and Truck races. That still isn't always enough.![]()

Remember, there was no race on the Guide, so I just manually set it up for 5 hours and would have been fine except for Juan Pablo's wild ride. ![]()

Hate to say this but I'm glad they found something went wrong with JB Montoya's car when he rammed the jet dryer. Know he was pretty wild when he first joined NASCAR and since he just came from the pits I had a flashback of this scene about 1:45 into this video.
My bad and have been watching waaay too many movies! ![]()

Did you all see the Truck race from Rockingham? Man that was cool! That track made the drivers, drive instead of just riding around. Sure hope that they get Cup back there! 70,000 for a cup race would be better than 70000 for a Cup race in New Hampshire or California!

they really did spring cleaning of the Town of Rockingham for the race. The town looks good.
Did they sweep the streets in Cordova, too?
Maybe they made my dad move his old van. ![]()

I did not see much change in the suburbs of Cordova. I will have to check to see if the van is still there. After awhile you quit noticing the art works in yards.
