Ok...tell me I'm not the only "OLDER" person on here....who remembers The Doobie Brothers??? My son and I are heading to see them tonight...I sure hope they're as good as they used to be.

Any chance of a surprise appearance? Although my formative years were in the 80's I still like alot of 70's music, my daughter even likes Earth Wind and Fire
Razr8...MAN., that WOULD be nice...to have that surprise appearance but I doubt it. My son is going to be 21 and he loves lots of different music from back in MY day. I've taught him well.

Hi guys!! just a little update on The Doobie Brother's concert...IT WAS FANTASTIC!! The weather was prefect right up until it was time to leave my house for the concert, then a HUGE storm cloud rolled in. I thought for sure, they wiould cancel, but we took our chances and went anyway. Parking was CRAZY and I had to STALK some people who were leaving and walking to their car, just so i could get a spot.
The opening act was some guitarist, didn't catch his name, who also played with Eric Clapton. HE WAS GREAT...he played kind of blusie stuff!! I'm still trying to find out who he was.
A little ways into this outside concert, it started to drizzle, BUT, I took an umbrella with me so out it came. They opened with "Jesus is Just All Right" and played a LOT of their hits..I knew every one but I think my FAVE was "Black Water". It was such a fitting song for that time of the night since it had decided to POUR down rain. Actually, the rain felt nice and getting a little wet never hurt anyone, right? I figured that as long as the Doobies were playing, I WAS STAYING.
Half the crowd left when the rain came down and we could have moved right up to the front, if we wanted to but we decided to stay in our DRY seats. LOL!!
Michael Mcdonald was NOT there but they didn't need him...they were AWESOME, even without him. Here's their FB page...maybe you'd like to see some pics they took. Just click on the Doobie pics.

Razr8, you have to do a little bit of brushing up on your music..or it could very well be that I'm a LOT older than you and RicoLX..LOL!!
RicoLX..yes, "Black Water" is a great song and what was even better was when the crowd sang their hearts out with the Doobies..even in the rain.
My son LOVED it...he got his taste in music from his mom.
On Thursday nights during the summer, at the casino here, they have tribute bands. It's all free and this week is an AC/DC tribute band...my son's FAVE!! We'll be there!!
As for my son, he LOVED it...and they really did put on a great show, even in the rain.

You know what's sad is that I should have known The Doobie Brothers sang that song. The local radio rock station has a segment called "The College of Classic Rock Knowledge" whereby they relate certain anecdotes about songs and the musicians that play them. Seeing how I tend to look trivia and such that one must have gotten past me. But Dcookie in your last word association post you mentioned Bad Company, do I redeem myself if I told you I like their song "Feel Like Making Love"?

Ahhh...nothing like a basket of the "World's Best French Fries" and a burger to go with a summer concert night.

The AC/DC performance should be a hit...literally! Their music always sort of "got me groovin'", even though I listen to probably the most modern music that's out there today. There's actually something about the lead singer's voice that makes me laugh... I think it's just that he's sort of screaming and singing at the same time. About two weeks ago there was a tribute group to Pink Floyd "up north" in Charlevoix, MI. It was fun there, with the lady that looked like Niccey Nash (from 'Clean House') singin' and dancin' on stage. The water in the bay/lake there was absolutely stunning...nothing like the dirty Saginaw Bay water we have here.
A deep blue color, which was also clear at the same time. I probably should mention that we just simply went to Subway for dinner (hey, $5 footlongs!) and it was packed, which surprised me. Amongst the group of people, one guy walked in appearing to be wearing a full-suited ninja costume...? He even had the mask and everything...we weren't sure what to expect. The Subway employee gave him a funny look when I was ordering my toppings for my Cold Cut.

Man I am out of the loop more than I thought, that's another song I have heard several times and never knew who sang it. Does anybody have a real rockout song, a song that you would hear on the radio and just crank the volume and start jamming? For me it would be Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and Aerosmith's (my hometown boys) Sweet Emotion and Dream On, a personal favorite of my daughter. There are other songs that get me going, but as far as rock songs go those are among my personal favorites.
