Hey everyone. How are you? I have had a lot of phones over the years and I got to thinking about some of the ones that i had that were some of my favorites: the most reliable, durable, customizable, etc. What has been your favorite phone to use? It can either be a phone you had in the past or a current one.

Hi crkcallie!! It's nice to see some action here on this board. ![]()
I'd have to say, my favorite phone is my current Samsung Google Nexus S, also my first smartphone and touchscreen.
I'll have it a year in November and STILL don't know half of what it can do and still learning. I love it though.
Other than this phone, I kind of liked my LG Shine..I liked the slide, easy to use and also, my previous Nokia Mural. I still have them and will use as a backup phone if needed. Since, I've gotten the Nexus, I don't think I'll ever go back to a regular phone, though. ![]()
How are you liking your Samsung Evergreen??

Hi, Dcookie. Great to hear from you. Yes. It is nice to see action on this board. :-) It sounds like you really like your Google Nexus S. Is that a phone on AT&T's network, or is that one on Verizon Wireless that you got unlocked to work with AT&T's service? You liked the LG Shine that you had before? That's awesome.
I used to have a Samsung SGH A737 slider phone before and, while I liked the red and black colors and other features on the phone, I found the dialing to be a bit difficult, since everything was smooth and the buttons were not as raised as on other phones I have had. I used to have a BlackBerry Curve 8310, which I really liked. However, the battery life was not that great.
I am loving my Samsung Evergreen. It froze on me once, but I did a battery pull, reset, and a restore and the phone has been working fine. I really wanted the phone because it had physical buttons, which was what I was looking for instead of a touch screen, like my Samsung Solstice 2, which I still have as a spare if I need it. I highly recommend this phone to someone looking for a phone with bells and whistles, but wants a feature phone with physical buttons and a long battery life.

$50.00 at Best Buy? That's a great price. I'm glad you like the phone. It sounds like a great one. :-)

Yep..got it last November. Also, the first phone I've evre took insurance out on. It may be a waste of money on my part but I've never had such an expensive phone before. If I had to buy it ourtright, it would cost much more than $50.

I have seen how much smart phones are. They are ridiculously expensive. I wonder why that is? I had a BlackBerry Curve 8310 and when I bought that thing brand new, the no commitment price was more than $400.00 Insane!

I know they are like little computers. I used to have a BlackBerry Curve 8310 on AT&T and I loved it. One of the things that I did not like about it was how much of the battery power the phone consumed just to run. I could be in a three hour long conversation with someone and it would use half the battery. The nice thing with the Samsung Solstice 2 I had and this Samsung Evergreen I now have is that the battery power lasts quite a while.

My son has a triple minute tracfone smartphone that I just got for him. It only uses the Edge network (2G) and that battery lasts a LONG time. Of course, all he does is text and call...doesn't use the internet, so I'm sure that's why his battery lasts so long.

Yes. I had to get accustomed to the battery not lasting very long when I had a smart phone. I really enjoy having a quick messaging phone again that has a good battery life. You use yours a lot? That's awesome. I also just text and call. I don't use the internet on it. No need to when I have internet access at home. :-) The battery does last a long time on quick messaging phones. That's one of the positive things about them. :-)

For those who have the iPhone 4S, that is awesome that you like your phones. It seems that people are very satisfied with them. I have a third generation iPod Touch and, while it's not an iPhone, it still does almost everything the iPhone does now. I can definitely see why people really like them.

I also used to have a Nokia 3120. I loved it! It also is one of my favorites that I had before AT&T and Cingular merged. Great phone. :-)

I believe Apple considers the iPod Touch as an entry-level iPhone - the gateway-drug, so to speak, for the wider iPhone and iPad world.
Most teenagers who start off with iPod Touch continue on to have an iPhone as adults.
A well-played card by Apple ![]()

I am very impressed with the iPod Touch. I have had it for two years now and it has worked just fine since day one. I am hoping that when I get a chance to get an iPhone, that I have just as positive of an experience with it as I have with the iPod Touch. :-) I agree that it was well-played by Apple.

Hi,
I like my current LG Thrive Android phone best but not entirely. I'll explain.
I like how you can just flip a phone to answer and fold it close to end a call, like this Sharp Android Clamshell.

My favorite phone is the Galaxy Nexus, which I'm currently using on T-Mobile. I have used it on AT&T in the past. The fact that it is a pentaband phone is one of the advantages to this phone. I like the pure Android experience without the manufacturer skins. The screen is a good size. The phone has enough internal memory for me. My favorite features are NFC related. The Galaxy Nexus is the only non-Sprint phone that I know of that has Google Wallet active.

I have heard good things about the Galaxy Nexus. What does pentaband mean? I have never heard that term.

I'm not laughing.
Razr8 would tell you that his fave is his Razr2 V9x...I've TRIED and TRIED to talk him into a smartphone but he's still too in love with his Razr. ONE day he'll see the light. ![]()
I've had a few non smartphones that I've liked, as well, but I don't think I'd ever go back to one either...smartphones from NOW on!! ![]()

Does anyone remember the Motorola Vulcan on Verizon or Bell Atlantic Mobile? It was TINY! Smaller than the StarTac... I loved that phone... Wish I still had it.
I have been loyal to RIM and Blackberry for years. My first blackberry was the first color one on Nextel w/ the two-way radio when I worked at Hilton... I had that for years and then when I left, upgraded to Cingular's version and upgrade every year since

Isn't it funny how we all couldn't wait for the smaller phones and now they all seem to be getting larger, again? My first phone was an Audiovox...the thing was about the size of a small brick!! XD

Dcookie,
I chuckled to myself when I was posting that too. I think I still have that "clamshell" blackberry white the giant rubber antenna that used to gouge me in the side when I had it in it's belt-holster thing... Yeah, I probably could have lost 5-10 lbs but the design was wonky. Never did like the "uni-wheel" on the side of the thing either. Wonder if I dig it out if it would work on the new Nextel/Sprint/Boost network?
Is it weird that I've held on to most of my old cell phones like they will be antiques or worth something someday? I don't have any "hoarding" tendencies but hold on to old gadgets.... and as for the Audiovox phone, I had one of those too! :-)
Would you believe that my 1999 Mazda Miata (showroom condition with only 40k miles) still has one of the original Motorola Bell Atlantic Mobile analog (A/B channel) car phones and whip antenna on the windshield? I moved it from car to car and it's final resting place was there... It was the second version of it as I bought one when they first came out for $3k back in the day through a company-sponsored program with Nynex (if you're old enough to remember this, let alone Bell Atlantic or Bell Atlantic Mobile [called Bell Atlantic NYNEX Mobile in 1997] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NYNEX) or if you remember the Bell Atlantic Mobile commercials where James Earl Jones was the paid spokesman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyeFqgs3FzI
Or one of my favorite commercials and phones from the 1980's was the Motorola Dynatac "that weighs only 30oz!" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WUF3yjgGf4 - simply classic! A phone that weighs only 2lbs! - During the Cellular Revolution of the 1980's!
I think I may have found your AudioVox phone too... and I wish we still had those $14.99 monthly plans. Yes, they had limited "local" (regional) calling and no long distance, but those were the days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de-7CM9I1Eg
Wow...blast from the past, huh? ![]()

OMG, that makes me feel old, LOL! Remember how bad the battery life was with just a monochrome screen? And the battery is what made the phones so heavy.
