Spybot is also useful, as is HijackThis.
Also, Apple didn't invent the touchpad....they were just reeeeeeeeeeally quick to license it ;p

NOD 32 is good. You can get a free 30 day trial.Go to Nod.com and check it out..They also have nod smart security which I have also used in the past,it works real well, but u must remove any other anti-virus installed on your computer BEFORE u download nod.

MSE is THE way to go! Free and doesn't clog your machine. All the popular suites are major resource hogs and prices keep going up. I used TrendMicro forever back to when it was PC-cillin. MSE beats it hands-down!
Apple claims they don't get viruses (cough!), but there are several AV programs out there. And soon Mt. Lion will come with Gatekeeper for detecting malicious Apps, LOL! Their icon even looks like Win. Defender's. Not hating on Apple, but they need to stop with the we-don't-get-viruses mantra. More Apple users out there with iPad and that is what hackers like, numbers...and attention. Problem will be that the media will keep mum on this as they have in the past.

Apple recently modified their stance on this. What I hate about the current crop of programs offered for the mac is that they focus on the PC virurses. While there is definately some malware out there for mac, A program that focuses just on that would be much more effective and less resource intensive. Let me focus on my infections and PC users focus on theirs.
Also keep in mind that Apple does have some built in safeguards that are not spoken of too often that auto update and detect and remove malware.
I know I have tried some different products and just have not found one that I like so I don't run anything but I do not allow downloads to auto launch anything. any things including PDF's go to my download's folder first.

adblock blocks the banner before it reaches your computer (blocks sites that host the banners from a list that is constantly updated), so no viruses really have a chance to get to you as long as you aren't a dumdum and click something you shouldn't be clicking.
not fool-proof, just effective.

There is no virus for the Mac and Linux distros if you can find one please post it.
With that being said there is malware and trojans for all please note there is a difference the later will pose as something legit prompting you for a password then all bets are off.
I use MSE for Win7 without any issues for over a year now nothing on the Mac or Ubuntu.
I only have firewall set for all no AV on the Mac or Ubuntu if you look most if not all virus will be exe. that is Windows only .
If you use Flash go to Adobe and get your updates.
If you use Java go to Oracle Sun to get your updates and there is a difference between enabling Java and Java Script. these two are the most exploited because they are used on all platforms and although it may not wreck havoc on your setup it can be passed to another.
