Today when I came home and turned to one of my recordings the aspect ratio is wrong.
I've been recording and watching the Olympics and these recordings have played full screen just fine till today. I've watched the opening ceromony a few times. In my area, NBC is 5 or 1005. Some of the recordings are on 5, some are 1005, but has of today, none of these play correctly.
I have some older recordings that look fine. Has anyone experieced this? Were you able to resolve the issue?
Oh... and my channels live also do not view correctly.
I did try fixing the ration under Options - System Settings - 1080 - ran the test fine - selected Save.

Is it just me, or is the subject of the mysterious aspect ration change during recordings being completely glossed over? I am searching for a solution, but the answers being given are a bit absurd. Some are offensive in that people know when there is a change, or difference in the recording's appearance. Could just be users on here that really don't know what they are talking about trying to help, so they are trying to talk like experts when they are not, it's my first day and all, but half of the responses should be removed because they merely muddy the waters with incomplete, or irrelevant information. So is the a thread with the fix to DVD recordings changing the aspect ratio? Not someone's opinion about what network TV channels may or may not be doing, but a solution to a real problem?

Bear in mind that everyone here (save a handful) are customers just like you and not everyone has experienced the same problem you have. I, for one, have never had the problem of the aspect ratio not recording correctly.
Any solution you see as 'glossed over', 'offensive' or 'absurd' are not, in all likelihood, meant that way and if you were offended, I apologize.
Like I said: We are customers just like you. All we can do is relate our experience and hopefully share a solution.

"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

I have not experienced this in a long time but sometimes broadcasters would loose the HD feed and I guess rather than a no signal at all they would send the SD feed on both channels it was an occurance a year ago with CSI on both Uverse and OTA so the blame went to the broadcasters.
