On one of my televisions a black box occasionally appears and blocks much of the bottom half of the screen. What could be causing this?

Bel Gium - How big is the black box? Is it the same size as what appears when you change channels, just no info in it?

Check the closed captions settings on your TV and ensure they are turned off. Certain closed caption modes that are intended to display full-screen text can cause this issue.

It is a large rectangle that goes up almost half-way up to the middle of the screen. It is not in the horizontal scroll for channel changes.

I am not asking if it appears in preview pictures. I was asking if it was the same size as the info block - starts at the bottom - goes one third up the screen & is full side to side.

Your saying that it goes half way up the screen but not full across?? Can you take a picture??

What happens if you press info when it is there??

Is there any pattern of channels?? If you change channel does it go away??
