My current wife is really bummed about the way the list of recorded shows intermingles my shows with hers. There should be two or three "recorded show accounts" so that my 40 shows (races, monty python, motorcycles, shooting, etc.) would not be scattered about in her 80 shows (cooking, shopping, soap operas, reality shows, etc.).
We don't even have it installed yet (ETA tomorrow), and she reminds me every few hours how stupid it is that she has to wade through, as she puts it, ALL YOUR GUY CRAP, in order to find her shows.
Surely there is some way short of having two DVRs for us to have some way of putting my shows in one bucket and hers in another.

No, there is a single bucket that lists all of the recordings. In that regard, the U-verse DVR is no different than my Tivo HD DVR or the DVR that I had with Dish Network.
Are their other provider DVR's that allow the creation of separate buckets on the same DVR?

We have four viewing locations. They will install one HDDVR and three secondary receivers tomorrow.
Would it solve my problem if I had them install two HDDVRs? I'd want one HDDVR with two secondary receivers, and the other HDDVR by itself. If that is possible, I wonder how much more the cost would be for install, and for monthly fees.

No, there is only one DVR per account. It is a Total Home DVR (THDVR).
There is no other way to answer the question that you previously asked, but what you are asking is not possible. There is only only bucket which lists all of the recorded programs. I'm not sure why your wife would have such a problem with this. Do you have a problem seeing all of the cooking shows on the list of recorded shows that she recorded when you are looking to watch a program that you recorded?

You're going down the toilet seat up/down road, TG. No good will ever come of that. ![]()

Guys, I work with small children. Let me handle this one:
You get ONE DVR...that's it. No other option.
All shows are listed together. No personalized list. No other option.
It is what it is. Either deal with it or make her happy and cancel your installation.
Remember: Happy wife, happy life. ![]()

Right now with direct-{word filter evasion}-TV we have our shows separated.
This situation shows a problem with u-verse in comparison.
We have two accounts at the bank. We have two accounts on yahoo. We have two cars. We have two pandora accounts. We have two quicken accounts. We have two photobucket accounts. We have two IRAs. This could go on forever since we have two of a hundred other things. Seems to me it would be a fairly small upgrade to set up multiple folders for multiple watchers.
If direct-{word filter evasion}-TV can set us up with two DVRs, why can't AT&T?

Does DirecTV allow the separate buckets that you are requesting on a single DVR?
You cannot have more than one DVR with U-verse because of the 4 stream limitation. U-verse is not DirecTV. The architectures are completely different. You cannot expect U-verse to be like DirecTV, and you cannot expect DirecTV to be like U-verse.
Instead of driving yourself crazy with this, decide whether or not U-verse will work in your household. If it does, move forward with the install. If it will not work for you, cancel your install and stay with DirecTV which seems to meet your needs.

As I stated in the other thread, calling your wife "my current wife" might make her not so current...... Careful, Bob!
Yes the DVR could use some improvements / customization but if Direct - whatever you called it - TV can do it, there may be a reason that U-Verse can't - it's called copyright and DTV defends theirs with much vigor.

You can stomp your feet and clench your teeth all day long but what we are telling you is what it is.
One DVR. NO separating recordings. If this doesn't work for you, move on.

I believe DISH and possibly DirecTV allow you to create separate folders and sort programs that way.

Jackal113 wrote:texasguy, I'm pretty sure he just wants a folder/account that would separate his programs from those recorded or being recorded by his wife. And the answer is: U-verse does not have that feature.
We know what he wants. As has been stated several times, that feature is not available with U-verse.

My boss is building a house on the other side of ATL from me. He wants u-verse too.
-- He has 5 kids, all boys.
-- Each will have his own bedroom. Each boy wants a tv.
-- The boss wants two more viewing locations, one in the family room (his wife's primary location) and one in his office.
How is AT&T going to work this one? He'll need seven viewing locations, often with five or six or even seven people wanting to watch tv at the same time?

There can only be 4 different streams at any one time. You can have up to 8 tvs, but still only 4 different streams and even then the max of 3 HD streams. If recorded programs are being watched it does not count as one of the streams so up to 8 different recorded programs could be watched. If your boss's kids are all wanting to watch different programming while parents are watching something different UVerse will not work for them.

How about if he had two systems installed?

Gyrobob, you must come to terms with a few things: Uverse has limitations. Some are as follows: Only one system/DVR per household. Limit of four live streams. Limit of 3HD streams can be recorded at once. No separating recordings. No Hallmark Channel.
If any of these limitations are a problem with you or anyone else (potential or current customers) then Uverse is not the system for you.

What if a guy had a rental house built on the back side of his lot. Two houses, one big (with four viewing locations), one little (with four viewing locations),... about ten feet apart.
-- Could they each have uverse installed?
-- Could four folks watch live tv in the big house while four folks in the rental house also watch live tv?
-- Would all the shows be dumped in one bucket, or would the big house see a list of recorded shows only for the big house, and the rental house see only the shows for the rental house?
......................(now skeets, don't get your panties all wadded up over this,... just relax and consider the issue)

The separate dwelling (rental or apartment) would have to have a different address. This would involve zoning rules and municipal laws. Not sure if 10 ft. apart would be acceptable. Again, this would depend on the zoning rules.
Bottom line is that there must be a separate billing address for each system installed (not unlike living in a duplex or fourplex).
