No. Sometimes you have to do a soft or hard reboot of the dvr. A hard reboot will cause the software to be redownloaded into the dvr and replace software that has corrupted files. You can also do this with the RG. Unplug the ac cable for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. I recommend you do this after your recordings have completed though.
