With this new release you will initially have to log into either Xbox Gold or Silver. Once you do that you can set it to automatically log in and the App should work like normal. This was done to provide a higher level of security on the Xbox.
I am guessing the free account is not counted as gold or silver? Sometimes mine wil log in with no issues, sometimes I have to manually log in. I have it set to auto login though. Just a minor inconvience, but not too bad. At least I dont have to go back to the xbox dashboard to sign in.

Got it here in Hartford County, CT. ![]()
Besides the ability to pause, rewind, and fast forward on all boxes, we are supposed to be able to get 4 HD streams simultaneously instead of 3. You can also record 3 HD and 1 SD show at the same time.
There are also some minor interface changes on the scrollbar preview that I can see...

The number of streams are not based on the release, but the maximum speed profile that can be supported by your connectivity to the VRAD.

Currently, I can record 3 HD and 1 SD shows at the same time. If I'm recording 3 HD shows at once, I can watch a 4th live HD stream on any STB in the house, just not on the DVR box.
None of this should have anything to do with Phase 3 of THDVR (total home dvr).

Correct. The number of streams has nothing to do with Phase 3.
When you can PAUSE LIVE TV on a STB, you'll know you've got Phase 3.

Unfortunately, the phase 3 update does not appear to have fixed the issue with surround sound, like someone else said it appeared to have done a few posts back. Still there & as annoying as ever! ![]()

I am experiencing no sound drop-outs since going back to U-verse a few days ago. This is with U-verse set to "surround" and using optical from my Cisco DVR to Onkyo receiver and HDMI from my Cisco to Samsung tv.

Ever since the update I'm unable to delete shows using TV Web Remote Access. If I check a list of 10 shows to delete, maybe the first one or two will delete but the rest stay.
I use this feature all the time so I know it worked before the update.
Anyone else see this?

Since receiving the update, I have not seen an issue with using the WRA to delete programs. Can you delete the recordings from the DVR instead of using the WRA?

Some people are lucky enough to not have this problem. That's good if you are not having it, hopefully your good luck keeps up!
When I have some time on my hands & have nothing else better to do, I think that I will give them a call on it. I know it won't do any good since there's no fix, but at least I'll have let them know what I think. I'm hoping that the more people who complain about it, the quicker they'll do something about it. Maybe I'll even get some freebies out of it!

Well, something has definitely changed from a year ago. I have the same Onkyo receiver and same wiring setup. What's different is the U-Verse RG and I have a Cisco DVR instead of Motorola. So, U-Verse has done something to solve the problem, at least for some of us.

This is truely a long thread, so if someone has already posted this little tidbit, I apologize.
It appears that phase 3 has eliminated the 203 total recordings limit. The kids record a lot of 30 minute shows, so it's easy to go over 203 recordings before hitting the hard drive capacity.
I just noticed that my recordings count is now at 260, so I'm guessing phase 3 fixed that. Can anyone else confirm that? What is the new limit?
Also, the little check mark that indicates "KEEP UNTIL I ERASE" is now on a green background. I guess there were other minor cosmetic changes, but it was that check mark that caused me to look into whether an upgrade had ocurred.
Sure which someone had nice list of what was changed/fixed.

Only so many boxes can be upgraded at a time during the maintenance windows each night. Each market that is served out of a VHO takes several nights to get completely upgraded. Once all of the boxes served out a particular VHO have been upgraded that is when the message will appear letting everyine know that the upgrade is complete.

Because it takes a few days to roll it out to the entire market.

I forget exactly what it says but it talks about the new features of THDVR being available on all boxes. It should appear the first time you turn on any of your boxes.

St. Louis (South County 63128) - I didn't get any messages. I just noticed there was a color difference on the guide and tried pausing the TV. I had to reboot the STB to get it to work.

You DO know that it was posted that all should have it by August. So maybe you won't get it until then.

Are you aware of all the technical aspects of the upgrade? I'm not sure why you think it's crazy that we all don't get it at the same time. It's not like a TV station changing something and it gets broadcast out to everyone the same. While I'm not intimately familiar with AT&Ts Uverse network it's fair to say the the Uverse you get has many different intermediate links/switches/VRADs/etc which may need updates to accomodate the rollout. I'm sure this process is getting faster with experience and adaptations to their scripts but expecting all of a major metropolitan area to get updated overnight isn't always a reasonable expectation.
I am familiar with large computer/network projects like this and it's fairly typical to have a fluid calendar due to unforseen issues. Just as an example: some devices will not allow changes/updates while in an error state. Imagine that there are hundreds of "switch type A" in the network the require updates as part of the rollout and 10 of them spit out port errors or DIMM issues and refuse the update. You then have to schedule repairs to those prior to their update. If other work has that update to "switch type A" as a prerequisite, everything gets moved back if there wasn't enough wiggle-room in the schedule. There's nothing unusual about unpublished internal schedules changing and certainly nothing "crazy".

Let me see if I can explain this without getting too techie. ![]()
Basically the update has to be initiated on each individual set top box (STB). The STB then pulls down the new software update and applies it. Only so many STBs can be initiated and pull down the software at the same time. If you have too many at one time it can cause problems and we don't want to do that. The larger the number of customers and STBs in a VHO the long it will take to upgrade the entire VHO. Also, this is not just a simple patch, but a major software upgrade which takes longer as well.

I don't have the specifics of each VHO, but once it starts to roll out in a city it normally only takes a few days to complete, depending on the size and assuming that no problems are encountered. Each city is very, very closely monitored to make sure no problem are happening because of the update, and if they do see any they will pause the rollout until they can fix the issue. The team that is overseeing the rollout are really, really, really good at their job.
