For those who haven't heard it, the underwater-satellite echo-nasal-reverb.
It can easily be cleared up with a channel change.
Closed Captioned for your convenience (from the movie, Legend).

Thanks for posting the example Spd. Has anybody tried contacting David about this issue? Seems like it would be a good idea. Or at least sending Alex a PM.

I haven't bothered since I don't think it's a UV problem, specifically. See discussion in this post.

I read some of it. I figured it could be a problem with broadcast and the stb couldn't decode the audio for some reason. And changing channels resolved the hiccup. But I don't have anything to base that on. There are so many unknowns about what ATT is doing and even about IPTV for the general public. Hiopefully this will get resolved soon.

Great example Spd. Yeah, we're having that problem with one STB/TV in particular. It may be just the particular channel it's on. Last night my wife complained about the "echo sound" and I told her to flip it to the next channel then go right back. Her reply, "I know and I'm tired of that!". LOL, but probably not all that funny since it is obnoxious.

I guess it's satellite delay? Would be nice to know the proper term! And it must be content-provider-related since it isn't all channels at once here.
No, it's a U-Verse issue, somewhere in the system before it gets to your system. I heard it for the first time, early last winter. Somejoe or maybe it was Jeffer MC had an explanation that something wasn't being released at the VRAD (I think) and that a channel change would clear it. I believe that in my last email exchange with Andy, he said that it was a known bug and they were looking at it. Of course a couple of the "regulars" on here claimed that we were hearing things and U-Verse could not possibly be the cause. Lol. Seriously.

I've heard that reverberation issue on occasion as well here in Lawrence, Kansas. Usually (but not always) changing the channel and then changing it back will make the original channel just fine. On occasion, though, I have had to actually turn off the set top box (most frequently in my case, the DVR as the non-DVR boxes are in rooms I use less commonly) because each channel was doing it.
I hope that AT&T gets this issue fixed sometime soon. Oh, just in case it matters, UVRT reports that the distance from the VRAD to my home is about 600 feet (which seems about right since it is at the end of my block).

I am having the same issue...for at least a week now. It's the Food Network. Changing the channel does nothing. Turning the TV off and back on does nothing. When I called for support last week, they reset the box. Didn't work. My box was reset to factory settings (to fix another problem). That did nothing. Glad it not just me, but it makes it VERY hard to watch TV. AT&T, please help us!

Interesting that changing the channel didn't work, and someone else reported the same thing.
I know they ARE aware of it as the subject has come up several times in the random e-panel surveys that ATT sends out. Why it's happening now and a channel change doesn't fix it, I don't know.
Knock on wood, I haven't heard it in a while now.

I heard this yesterday for the first time but it was a recording from last week that I was watching so no amount of channel changes would do anything for that. It lasted the whole hour the show recorded. It was so bad I just skipped thru different parts of the hour show and when I was the entire duration I just deleted it.
Hopefully the first and last time....![]()

I heard it again last week. Now if the sound delay wasn't bad enough from my living room TV to the kitchen TV, while on the same channel, just add that underwater sound reverb which will drive you nuts! Stir of Echoes??

Ghost in the Machine!
Know it's annoying, especially when in the middle of watching something, and you have to change channels and miss part of a program. But this is new where people are reporting that a channel change no longer works. ![]()

Whew! Glad to read others are having the same problem I was beginning to think it was my sound bar. Have the same sound problem with the DVR, a STB, and even with a wireless STB all at one time or another connected to my main TV with a Sony sound bar. Had the problem first with the DVR, so moved the DVR to another room and put the wireless STB in its place. Still had the problem so moved the wireless STB to the kitchen and put the wired STB in its place.

Wow, bet that reverb does sound real good through nice soundbars! J/k. Bummer you were moving all your equipment around trying to solve the reverb and as you now know, makes no difference. Neither does wiring since I have both coax and Cat5e. Just some strange broadcast/signal problem from certain programs on their end.

Yes, when folks respond the forum works great. Last time I posted a problem on 4-28-2012 under Receivers/Battery Backup Ii got no response. Posted as "Wireless receiver dropping while watching a DVR program".

Just read your thread/post from 4/28/12 which was real good, with detail. Unfortunately there seems to be only a few people on this forum that try to read/interpret UVRT stats. I'd try bumping it up again if you're still having problem and ask, "Can someone please help me read these stats and solve my problems?". I'm also surprised someone didn't refer you to Alex, a Community Manager, to resolve your issues.
The big difference between this thread and the one you previously posted is that yours is specific to your setup while this one is being broadcast to many others who may be having this reverb sound problem. The more people having the same problem, the more input. Good luck.

Just want to report that I ran into this for the first time ever on H2 last night. I'm a customer for nearly 2 1/2 years.
A quick channel flip fixed it.
