The newest Motorola DVR is the VIP 2250 which has a 500 GB hard drive, more memory and a faster chipset. Call Technical Support to see if you can be upgraded.

I did call support. They can only replace with the newer DVR if the current model is defective in some way. Although mine has had a few 'burps' it works 'ok'. So they gave me the sales # to call, which I of course left at home. ![]()
Based on the notes here I'm guessing I'll have to pay $105. Kinda hurls since I pay a monthly fee for the puppy. Oh well.

OMG: Nothing is easy with AT&T.
Last night called support; explained I wanted the most recent DVR box. They said they could only do it if my current box was defective. They referred me to the sales dept.
Today called the sales dept. They referred me back to the support dept. Even after I explained support had referred me to them.
On a chance called the sales # again hoping to get an agent with more brain cells. This one believes they can do the order AND it won't cost me (I was fine with paying). After 20 minutes she says she can't place the order; some kind of system error. Transfers me to support saying they can do it.
During the hold time to support I hang-up; was already into this by 45 minutes today.
A bit later they call back to 'inform' me they can't upgrade me. Gee, whiz thanks AT&T.
I guess my current low storage, slow box will have to die before I can get an upgraded one.
Perhaps AT&T is the company Apple is having talks with for an Apple set top box. AT&T DVR functional, but crude compared to the likes of TiVo. Why AT&T didn't license TiVo or heck, buy the company is a mystery.
Perhaps my next try is to call and say I'll cancel unless get new DVR box......

I've reached out to the 2 'area' managers involved in my install over a year ago to see if they could assist.
Really shouldn't be this hard to get the most recent model.

Did you get one?
I'm always told they're not available in our market, but I know where they are always available! ![]()

Contact Alex again (or whomever your contact is), so they can track the progress of the order for you.

I got my first 2250 dvr when a tech came out to replace a fallen line. I got charged the cost for the dvr but it get reveresed because it didn't last 2 weeks before it began deleting recordings. The next dvr I got failed but it wasn't the 2250, but it was replaced with a 2250 and I was not charged for it. I agree with Spd and TG, shoot Alex another PM. If you happen to see an AT&T truck ask the tech if he/she has a 2250 available.

A year or so ago, I had issues with recording on my VIP 1225. It didn't happen on all of the shows but some would not play back, deleting it was the only thing I could do and if I rerecorded, sometimes it was fine. They replaced my VIP 1225 at no charge and I did get a bigger HD at the time but its smaller then I would like. When they came to replace it, the service tech did not verify the issue, he just replaced the box.

so, went on vacation for a week. Half way expected a box when I got back home. but wasn't to be. After being called and told a new, updated box was on its way 3 weeks ago I have to assume that it isn't. Oh well, i did try.

He does read, but if you've already PMd and no action after all that time, there needs to be follow up.

Motorola VIP1225 250GB
Cisco IPN4320 320GB
Motorola VIP2250 500GB
Cisco ISB7500 500GB
If you're in the market where U-verse uses Motorola's, as it seems like you are, if technical support places an order to swap your DVR for another high capacity DVR, it's a crapshoot based on what's in their warehouse for a VIP1225 or VIP2250.
Unfortunately, there is no ability for technical support to pick which one you get - that's not decided by them. The other way to get a VIP2250 is by getting one off of a technician's truck. Though, I'm not sure if they will always have one or if you will be charged for a truck roll.

I was told you get replaced with what you already have, unless you live in Dallas! ![]()
You can't swap without a ticket, right? ![]()

My old DVR failed which was the one with the smallest hard drive and it got replaced with a 2250. I originally had my first DVR swapped out but it failed after about 2 weeks or so. The replacement for it was the smaller capacity DVR. It failed about 3 weeks after I got it and the tech gave me the second 2250. No problems since then though and it has been several months.

There is no reason to not have the same stock everywhere. I can understand some markets with Cisco, some with Moto.
Will you get them in gear up in DFW, skeeter?!!! ![]()

You did not get the big HDD one?

An update as of today: Earlier in the week rec'd voice messages and emails that essentially said today between 12-4pm the 'updated' DVR box would be delivered. Had to come via repair tech/van; they were notified aok to leave at front door if I wasn't here. It is now after 4pm, no delivery.the social media support dept of AT&T pretty much rock; the rest of AT&T not so much.
Really, really shouldn't be this hard to get the current available DVR (heck, I haven't even bothered about a newer gateway with better wireless 'n' yet). Still, I'm not angry; just kinda sad. Would have been nice. I still leave hope it arrive today. they do have 4pm - 8pm windows, tho the automated email i rec'd displayed noon - 4pm. My wish would really for AT&T to license the TiVo OS and be done with it. Or maybe if AT&T could be more like Apple.
I still have an open mind I'll get the updated box....someday.... Hopefully before the current one dies (oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that).

Real interesting how just SOME people are able to get these things, huh?
Good luck, and keep us posted for tomorrow!
