Some things to help you out with figuring out what happened:
1. U-Verse did increase its prices this month, but no where near $45 for the service
2. compare your previous bill to your current one. Did a promotional rate end? Did you order some PPV/VOD movies?
3. Call AT&T at 800-288-2020 and see if they can explain what is going on. Odds are good too that if you're nice ot them they may give you a deal or discount on some services.

My monthly bill recently increased from $95 per month to $140 and I don't know why?
Did your new customer promotional rate expire? You should be able to look at the detailed line items on your current bill and compare it to your previous month's bill to see what accounts for the increase.
