Dang that's crazy. Good for you. I hope it doesn't increase with this change.

And aren't people in Dallas getting some big discount on Max18?
I have been told (grab the salt shaker) that you will not lose your grandfathered bundle discount amounts UNLESS you remove one of the services? So Double Pack and free STBs would still stay? ![]()

In these sections:
Price Changes for TV if purshased before 02/1/2009:
U-Fam $49, U100 $49, U200 $64, U200 Latino $77, U300 $82, U400 $104, U450 $112

Do you mean that if TV is purchased before/after 02/1/2010?

I'm in Dallas, and I don't receive a big discount on Max18 (MaxPlus). What do you know that I don't know? ![]()

Well According to the press release for Max Turbo for a limited time the price is $65 a month.
"AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet Max Turbo is available to eligible residential customers for $65 a month, under current promotional offer."
So no offense but if you live in Austin, San Antonio and St. Louis and qualify for Max Turbo and are currently on Max Plus you are not very bright at all as both Max Plus and Max Turbo cost the same price. Personally for the same price I would take Max Turbo any day over Max Plus. So while I understand that sp2demun was slightly confused or mistaken to think that Max Plus was being discounted in Dallas he was kinda off on the City and package that was being discounted . ATT pretty much wants everyone to upgrade to Max Turbo who has Max Plus so they can get as many people on that new speed package and test it out. So they are discounting Max Turbo.
I have a felling by the time Max Turbo gets rolled out to other area's ATT will no longer have a promo for Max Turbo for the price of Max Plus. All other markets will end up paying for Max Turbo if we want it and wont even be getting it for free for a couple of months like you guys as I have a felling Max Turbo will not be rolled out to other areas till after Feb 1st.

While spd2demun often seems dazed and confused most often he isn't. j/k. Have a feeling he was being sarcastic since a) Texasguy lives in Dallas and he doesn't. b) AT&T U-verse is based out of Dallas and gives preferencial treatment to hometown users. c) Most of us don't know the difference between Max Plus and Max Turbo.
Thanks for the rates and info dolmar. ![]()

Why do you think "Max" prices will be falling? ATT is only publicizing the price increases in the lower speed tiers. See the * note in the following public links.
http://www.att.com/u-verse/explore/internet-landin
http://www.att.com/u-verse/shop/fragments/iptv.jsp
Certainly in the SE region, Max being $2 higher than Elite would mean Elite wouldn't be much in demand.

After looking at all the different pricing plans with just the postings in just this thread, it's obvious that ATT is trying to get some system wide continuity in it's pricing structure in 2010 after years of willy - nilly geographic offers. Could (will!) be painful for our early members with the awesome start up deals. ![]()
Even not so early members. I look at the percentage increase on the HSI. $5 is a very large percentage increase. My math is not what it used to be but for me Elite goes up 14%.

Milkman, agree that a 14% increase in Elite is high and seems unfair to me. Posted this before here and guess we are paying for the higher speed users.
Maybe this is AT&T's way of avoiding the controversial internet cap discussion/issue. Let the low to mid speed users pay for those who use most of the bandwidth. Here is an interesting article that addresses mainly cable companies but also mentions the phone companies. Seems like there is a real high profit margin in selling internet services.

Uniblurb3, thanks for the link to article. Confirms a lot of things. Here in the Madison,Wi. Market, ATT is running what I call feel good ads. Ads that tell you how much ATT is spending to bring Broadband to all areas. Like spending money on unnecessary ads. Wisconsin was one of several states to modify cable franchise laws to allow a statewide franchise agreement versus each local city franchise agreements; one by one. Established cable systems in Wisconsin fought against this bill. ATT lobbied big time for the change. Promising more competition and lower cost services. The State gave ATT an open door to the state since no other providers are planning large expansions. IMHO.
I'm filing the UV lowering the Max Speeds chatter in the see it to believe it file.
I had to do one more edit. Personal record...shhesshh!![]()

Not trying to start any rumors...but there was someone who posted in TX about getting a big discounted rate, and I recall asking about it when I was giving up my 18 (trial expired). I asked about that city and they stated plainly the price was discounted, but just for them. Maybe it was on UU...I'll have to see if I can find it. I could be wrong about Dallas, for sure.![]()
edit--here it is back in Oct.
Max 12, not 18, my bad--
High Speed Internet 12.0 Mbps Max: $55.00
Special DFW Offer Max for $30 Ongoing: -$25.00
Hey, Uni, you said a mouthful about preferential treatment, Houston gets none, LOL!![]()

Houston must have done something wrong to always be shunned by UV. We don't receive much preferential treatment here in the Midwest either. But we are a little further away too.
All I want is $10 Detroit phone service and Dallas $30 Max internet! ![]()

Looks like the DFW $30 for Max 12 may be an urban legend that has been going on for the past year and a half. ![]()
Hey, if you become a DFW door to door UV salesperson you can get free internet for 6 months. ![]()
Best deal yet is that the $10 Detroit phone service also comes with a cell phone. ![]()

I'll just take the $10 service. They can keep the cell phone!

...your paycheck can be as big as you want...all commission...well THAT explains a lot!
They'd have to give me free equipment, Cat5 whole house rewire with real plug outlets (not holes in walls), free U450 for life with any new services added at no cost.
And fastest HSI, upgradable for free as it progresses into the future.
As for that Urban Legend, the rep I talked with did verify it was available, but it may have only been short term, I didn't keep my notes.
edit--to correct my smiley!

I don't think so, I recall asking about that as well...think someone on UU posted about it, was a special offering because of the enconomy there and such at the time?
Maybe RC can clarify for us later.
edit--here ya go from UU--press release link not working since their server upgrade, nothing is linked right. ![]()
edit again--here is the link for the article, but the link to ATTs site is gone...but this was back in June '08!
You can now complete the triple play in Detroit by adding the 1000 minute plan for $10 or the unlimited plan for $20.
They need to give special Hurricane rates to the Gulf Coast...for when we get hit and go w/o service for weeks because the VRAD is dead and the gas generators have been stolen, and we have no electricity.

I am only two months into my promotional period and my bill did go up. I called to complain and they offered me a retention adjustment. If they want to retain my business I suggest they honor our agreement. How's that for an idea?

Would tend to relate an agreement to a contract and there are hardly any contracts with U-verse. Also they post this disclaimer in the details of every deal.
AT&T U-verse Offer Details
AT&T U-verse
Geographic and service restrictions apply to AT&T U-verse services. Residential customers only. Prices, programming, and offers subject to change without notice.
Think it's great you were able to secure a credit/discount through retentions for the price increase. May want to continue to try this when your bill goes back up but doubt if it's going to work forever.
Good luck.
