AT&T sent my prior account bill to collections after I switched to Uverse - Livid Customer [ Edited ]

I am absolutely livid with AT&T right now. I had AT&T phone and internet since 2007. I recently gave in and switched to U-verse in April. When I signed up for U-verse, they told me my phone, television, and Internet would switch over to U-verse. They didn't tell me that apparently my regular AT&T account would be canceled, *along with the auto-pay for the last bill.* I assumed any remaining balance would be auto-paid, or added to the U-verse bill. I never received a paper bill. Today I received a letter from a collections agency. Apparently the $56 bill I had was never paid, and AT&T sent me to collections. No warning, no e-mail, no call, no paper bill, no letter. Just sent this to a collections agency. I immediately logged into my (apparently old) AT&T account, and sure enough, there was the bill, "past due." Oddly when I went to pay it, it gave me a notice: "This account is set on autopay, are you sure you want to continue?" But apparently it didn't auto-pay anything. I was able to pay the bill online with AT&T, but I have no idea what that means for the Collections company. I am guessing since this went to collections, this will appear on my credit score. I am absolutely livid. If AT&T does not make this right, I will cancel everything with this company, including phone, internet, television, and wireless. Apparently this is how AT&T rewards people for switching to U-verse.

After contacting Alex, I received a couple of calls from AT&T this week, and they apologized and have pulled the bill back from collections, and say it will not go on my credit score. Thanks to AT&T for the quick response and for fixing this issue. Although it obviously would have been better for this issue to not have happened in the first place, I very much appreciate that this was quickly resolved.
